I had written to GO Support to ask about this as well. They responded this morning that issues with GTOP4/5 teams missing Z’s and W’s have all been fixed.
Great job, guys.
Dang! I was hoping the Smettzer would make the Twins. I want to have the Twins put a Smeltzer Water stand next to their Killebrew Root Beer Stand down the first base line at Target Field.
Just following up on this post to see if there are plans on the roadmap to include crowd noise or other basic sounds. At least for me, it adds to the sim.
@monk Manager rating is supposed to indicate experience with competitive play, either against a computer AI (fewer points) or human opponent (more points). No points are awarded for solitaire because they would be too easy to get (you always win).
I played the computer game for many years. The big things I miss in APBA GO are the platoon factor which makes for strategic match-ups in pitch hitting and relief pitchers and the fatigue factor.
All Pro Software has scheduling and stat keeping software. As far as the scheduling software, it has limited parameters, but can work around most of them.
Welcome aboard. One of the great features on Go is the custom team feature. Lets you create your own teams to play solitaire mode or against other teams. You could form a league just like the card and dice version. Plenty of leagues and tourneys on the site as well. Just watch the “chat” area for info.
For me, some stats in the basic game are hard to recreate, such as individual errors and singles vs grade B and higher pitchers. In the end I think APBA basic gets it right. The feel and flow of the game is more important (to me at least) than recreating every stat. Just my 2 cents. Have a great day guys.
I know it’s been a while since this thread started but between now and mid August is the time when I can be most flexible in scheduling some play. I own the following: 1901, 1982, 1983.
@APBA-GO-Jeremy Congrats on five years to you and the GO crew. Still recall when GO first launched, and how much I enjoyed it from Day #1… initial gremlins and all.
First bought APBA in 1974, as a 14-year-old. GO gives me a chance to still play online games with my 86-year-old Dad, who lives 200 miles away. We set up Zoom calls and it’s like we’re again playing across the the kitchen table from each other.
Keep up the great work in improving the game. Am always impressed by how quickly you guys seem to respond to bug notes to GO Support. I continue to be a big fan.
@APBA-GO-Jeremy Thanks. That helps. I was worried using a starter in relief would result in a deterioration in the starter. I guess I am forever damaged by Rick Monday’s 1981 play off home run in the 9th off of Steve Rogers (a starter used in relief) that ended the Expos’ glory years.
