The Red Sox scored 4 runs in the 4th and 3 runs in the 5th on their way to a 8-4 victory over the Indians. Russ Nixon (1) and Dick Stuart (24) homered for Boston while Gene Green (3) went deep for Cleveland. Bob Heffner (1-1, 4.24) went the distance, striking out 12 batters for the win. Gary Bell (2-5, 3.58) took the loss, giving up 8 runs (5 earned) on 10 hits in 6 innings.
The Yankees pulled to within a game and a half of first place in the American League with a 7-3 victory over the White Sox. New York scored 4 times in the top of the 9th inning to put the game away. Roger Maris (18), Johnny Blanchard (5) and Tony Kubek (5) all homered for the Yankees. Al Downing (4-0, 1.93) earned the win, giving up just 1 hit over 7 2/3 innings. Bill Kunkel (6) closed out the game for the save. John Buzhardt (8-3, 1.9) took the loss for Chicago.
The Dodgers got solo home runs from Jim Gilliam (5) and Tommy Davis (9) in the first inning as they knocked off the Reds by a score of 5-2. Willie Davis (6) contributed a solo homer of his own in the 3rd inning. Don Drysdale (10-6, 2.66) gave up 2 runs in 7 innings for the win with Ron Perranoski (8) earning the save. Joey Jay (6-7, 4.3) took the loss for Cincinnati.
The Royals overcame a 6-1 deficit against the Tigers, scoring twice in the bottom of the 8th and 3 times in the bottom of the 9th to force extra innings. Haywood Sullivan singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Bubba Phillips (5) and Norm Cash (13) homered for Detroit. Norm Siebern (13) and Bobby Del Greco (4) went yard for Kansas City. Bill Fischer (3-2, 3.12) worked a clean 10th inning for the victory, while Tom Sturdivant (1-1, 4.5) took the loss.
The Senators blanked the Angels by a score of 5-0. Claude Osteen started the game, but exited with an injury with one out in the 5th inning. Pete Burnside (1-1, 6.14) held Los Angeles to just 3 hits over the final 4 2/3 innings to earn the win. Bob Turley (2-7, 3.84) took the loss for the Angels. Jim King went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI for Washington.
The Orioles broke a 2-2 tie with 2 runs in the top of the 8th inning and held on for a 4-3 win over the Twins. Jackie Brandt (8), Joe Gaines (4) and Jim Gentile (11) all homered for Baltimore. Johnny Goryl (2) homered for Minnesota. Milt Pappas (5-7, 3.9) went 7 strong innings for the win and Dick Hall (4) recorded the final 6 outs for the save. Jim Kaat (8-5, 2.93) went the distance for Minnesota, but was charged with the loss.
Hal Brown (1-3, 2.82) blanked the Braves as the Colt 45’s prevailed by a score of 3-0. Brown surrendered only 2 hits, and didn’t walk a batter. Howie Goss (5) homered for Houston. Denny LeMaster (6-7, 3.91) took the loss for Milwaukee.
The Giants scored 3 times in the 4th and 3 times again in the 6th for a 6-2 victory over the Cardinals. Juan Marichal (7-4, 1.85) gave up 2 runs in 8 innings of work for the win. Lew Burdette (1-1, 3.21) was touched up for 5 earned runs in 5 innings of work. Willie McCovey (15,16) homered twice and Ed Bailey (7) once for San Francisco. Ken Boyer (18) homered in the loss for St. Louis.

In game 1 of a doubleheader, the Indians and Red Sox were tied at 1 through 11 innings. The Tribe pushed 2 runs across in the top of the 12th inning on solo homers by Fred Whitfield (5) and Joe Azcue (6). The Sox answered back in the bottom of the 12th with a 2-run homer by Lou Clinton (7). With one out, Eddie Bressoud tripled. Ted Abernathy (0-2, 3.80) intentionally walked Bob Tillman to get to the pitchers’ spot, occupied by Dick Radatz (6-1, 1.71). Radatz grounded to second, and Miguel De La Hoz started a potential inning-ending double play, but Radatz was able to leg out the throw from Jerry Kindall, allowing Bressoud to score the winning run.
Game two saw another one-run victory for Boston as they scored single tallies in the 3rd and 5th innings to knock off the Tribe by a score of 2-1. Jerry Kindall (1) homered for Cleveland while Earl WIlson (2) went deep for Boston. Wilson (3-7, 4.28) got the win while Sam McDowell (1-10, 5.79) took the loss. Dick Radatz (7) earned a save.
Ron Hansen singled home Tommy McCraw with the deciding run in the 7th inning as the White Sox defeated the Yankees by a score of 2-1. Juan Pizarro (6-4, 1.62) went the distance for Chicago for the win. Ralph Terry (6-7, 2.99) gave up just 2 runs over 7 innings of work, but was charged with the loss.
Jim Gilliam drove in the deciding run in the top of the 8th inning as the Dodgers toppled the Reds in another 2-1 game. Sandy Koufax (9-4, 2.09) overcame 6 walks and went the distance for the win. Al Worthington (1-2, 2.38) gave up just one unearned run in 3 innings of relief work but took the loss.
Ken Harrelson’s (1) solo homer in the bottom of the 8th off Jim Bronstad (1-3, 3.38) proved to be the difference as the A’s defeated the Senators by a score of 4-3. Larry Osborne (12,13) went deep twice for Washington in the loss. Bill Fischer (4-2, 2.91) threw 3 scoreless innings of relief to get the victory.
Dean Chance (4-7, 3.09) fired a two-hitter as the Angels knocked off the Orioles by a score of 3-0. Leon Wagner chipped in his 12th homer of the season. Robin Roberts (8-4, 2.72) took the loss for Baltimore.
Jim Bunning (9-5, 3.12) scattered 7 hits in a complete game effort as the Tigers shut out the Twins by a score of 4-0. Al Kaline (13) homered for Detroit. Lee Stange (1-2, 1.00) took the loss for Minnesota.
Houston jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on Milwaukee and held on for a 3-1 victory. Don McMahon (2) earned the save in support of Ken Johnson (4-7, 2.25). Tony Cloninger (2-2, 2.77) took the loss for the Braves. Henry Aaron accounted for the lone Milwaukee run with his 19th homer of the season.
Ron Santo’s two-run single with 2-outs in the top of the 7th providing the winning margin for the Cubs as the dropped the Mets by a score of 2-1. Larry Jackson (9-4, 2.48) got the win with Jay Hook (1-10, 5.94) taking the loss. The lone New York run scored on a Jackson wild pitch with the bases loaded in the 3rd inning.
Earl Francis (2-6, 5.51) and the Pirates blanked the Phillies on just 5 hits in a 1-0 victory. Jerry Lynch drove in the lone Pittsburgh run in the 4th inning, plating Roberto Clemente. Art Mahaffey (5-6, 3.87) took the loss for Philadelphia.
In St. Louis, the Giants exploded for 8 runs in the top of the 2nd inning to drive Ray Sadecki from the game, but the Cardinals chipped away at the deficit, with a pair of runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th innings. St. Louis completed the unlikely comeback with 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning for a 9-8 victory. Ed Bauta (2-2, 3.41) got the win for 6 2/3 innings of relief with Ron Taylor (3) earning a save. Billy Pierce (3-1, 3.70) was charged with the loss giving up 2 earned runs while retiring just one batter. Ken Boyer (19) homered for St. Louis while Willie McCovey (17) and Ed Bailey (8) homered for San Francisco.

Enjoyed looking at your stats. Monbouquette is over performing because he is overcarded. This is a problem with APBAGO in my opinion. I’d like to make him a C Y ZZ and he’d perform more accurately ERA wise.

Dave Morehead (7-3, 2.68) went the distance and struck out 8 for the Red Sox, as they blanked the Indians by a score of 3-0. Mudcat Grant (4-7, 3.84) took the loss for Cleveland, giving up 3 unearned runs on 5 hits over 6 innings of work. Gary Geiger smacked his 6th homer of the season for Boston.
Tony Kubek drove in the game’s only run with an RBI double in the top of the 10th inning as the Yankees prevailed over the White Sox by a score of 1-0. Whitey Ford (8-5, 2.43) went the distance, giving up just 3 hits and striking out 11 in earning the victory. Gary Peters (5-3, 1.89) also struck out 11, but took the loss for Chicago.
The Reds scored single tallies in the 3rd and 4th innings, and it was good enough for a 2-1 victory over the Dodgers. Don Pavletich (2) homered for Cincinnati. Bill Henry (3) earned the save in support of Jim Maloney (10-7, 2.05). Nick Willhite (0-2, 3.15) took the loss for Los Angeles.
The Orioles got homers from Al Smith (4), Jackie Brandt (9) and Boog Powell (11) as they knocked off Paul Foytack (0-1, 5.4) and the Angels by a score of 5-1 in game 1 of a doubleheader. Ike Delock (2-1, 1.48) went 8 innings for the win.
Ken McBride (9-6, 3.07) went the distance in game 2 as the Angels blanked the Orioles by a score of 5-0. Leon Wagner (13) and Ed Sadowski (1) went yard for Los Angeles. Mike McCormick (2-5, 4.50) took the loss for Baltimore.

The Colt 45s knocked off the Braves by a score of 9-8. Jim Campbell (4) and Johnny Weekly (1) homered for Houston while Eddie Mathews (15) and Lee Maye (7) went yard for Milwaukee. Hal Woodeshick (3-0, 1.44) threw 4 innings of relief for the win. Bob Hendley (5-5, 4.26) took the loss in relief for Milwaukee.
The Mets pushed across a run on a sac fly by Ron Hunt in the bottom of the 8th inning to break a 2-2 tie, and sent the Cubs to a 3-2 defeat. Al Jackson (5-9, 4.63) went the distance for New York, striking out 5 and walking just one. Jack Warner (0-1, 9.00) took the loss in his season debut for Chicago in relief of Bob Buhl.
Don Clendenon’s 2-run homer (8) in the 6th inning proved to the the deciding blow in a 2-1 victory for the Pirates over the Phillies. Tommie Sisk (6) earned a save in support of Bob Friend (9-5, 2.31). Cal McLish (8-6, 2.02) took the loss for Philadelphia.
The Cardinals jumped out to a 6-1 lead against the Giants and held on for a 7-5 victory. Ken Boyer (20) and Stan Musial (11) homered for St. Louis. Jose Pagan (3), Willie McCovey (18) and Felipe Alou (8) all homered for San Francisco. Ron Taylor (4) earned a save with the win going to Curt Simmons(8-5, 1.87). Billy O’Dell (7-8, 3.76) took the loss for the Giants.

Wilbur Wood (1-2, 5.23) scatters 8 hits as the Red Sox blank the Indians by a score of 7-0. Barry Latman (1-5, 5.55) took the loss for Cleveland. Carl Yastrezmski went 4 for 5 with 2 RBI for Boston.
Joe Pepitone (11,12) homered twice for the Yankees as they held off the White Sox for a 4-3 victory. Hal Reniff (6) earned a save in support of Jim Bouton (10-3, 1.78). Ray Herbert (7-6, 2.91) took the loss for Chicago. Roger Maris (19) and Floyd Robinson (6) also homered in the game. With the win the Yankees have moved past the White Sox into second place in the American League. They are a game and a half behind the first place Twins.
In Kansas City, the Senators toppled the Athletics by a score of 5-3. Bennie Daniels (2-3, 2.94) went 6 innings for the victory with Jim Coates (2) hurling 3 scoreless innings for a save. Dave Wickersham (2-7, 3.4) took the loss for Kansas City. Jim King (10) homered for Washington while George Alusik (10) went deep for the A’s.
The Twins continue to pace the American league with a 7-3 victory over the Tigers. Jim Perry (7-1, 3.01) went the distance for Minnesota. Phil Regan (5-6, 5.12) gave up 5 runs in 6 innings for the loss. Jimmie Hall (12) homered for Minnesota and Bill Freehan (5) did the same for Detroit.
The Pirates scored 5 times in the 4th inning to erase a 2-0 deficit and defeat the Phillies by a score of 5-2. Jerry Lynch (4) homered for Pittsburgh. Tommie Sisk earned his 7th save of the season, backing up Don Cardwell (7-4, 2.75). Ray Culp (6-8, 4.17) took the loss for Philadelphia.
