    Hi Everyone,

    New Features:

    • Custom Teams

    What are Custom Teams?

    • Custom Teams allow managers to create teams comprised of players they currently have access to.

How do I get Custom Teams?

    • Subscribers have access.
    • There is a new Unlock in the store for Custom Teams for $10.

    How do Custom Teams work?

    • Custom teams are comprised of a roster and search functionality
    • Search for the player or primary stats you’re looking for
    • Select and add the players you want to the roster
    • When a Custom Team has at least one starting pitcher and at least 25 total players, the team is deemed complete and can be used in games.
    • Lineups are set (and saved) via custom lineups as part of game launch, as they always have been.
    • Head to head games, and tournaments, can be flagged as ‘no custom teams’ for those who want to keep things mostly historical
    • If you only have access to the free WS teams, you can create a Custom Team using those players. Otherwise, you can create a Custom Team with players from any team (or season of teams) you’ve purchased. Subscribers who have full access to the catalog can create Custom Teams from all players in the APBA GO database.

I am going to take a stab at redoing all the tutorial videos in December, probably over the holidays. I’ll add a tutorial for Custom Teams then… but in terms of functionality I think you’ll find it very straight forward and easy to understand.

As always, let us know what we missed and what we can do better. We may introduce improvements to Custom Teams as we can or as a major effort, depending on how much you like what we’ve done.

    Thanks as always,
    Jeremy

This release puts APBA.GO a lot closer at being able to easily support two really cool things, shared replays, and shared custom leagues. Yes, you may be able to do this right now with work, but a few changes could make is much simpler.

    Future requests:

    1. The 30 player limit is a bit restricting. While I know active rosters are not that high… most leagues will have up to 45 players on a team roster. I don’t think the stock teams in APBA GO have that limit either… I think every player that played is on the team (or another team).

    2. Add the ability to copy existing teams to a custom team. Why? Say for instance I want to do an ‘as played’ replay of 2017. We can’t move players around with the stock teams. Right now I have to create custom teams for WHOLE league… yikes… that would take forever. Copying a whole year to custom teams would be awesome.

    3. Add the ability to share a collection between users. Why? This is an easy way to support league play without anyone having to collect and manage the statistics outside of APBA GO. Also… imagine a shared community full-season replay, where you have dozens of different users playing the home games for different teams, but the stats all go to one shared collection. This would be an awesome way to build community.

    4. Add the ability to share custom teams with other users. Why? Think of a league, where the commissioner creates the teams once, and then shares them with other users in the league. Yes, they would all need to purchase the seasons for the players involved, but at least everyone doesn’t have to manually build all of the teams.

    5. Add the ability for teams to have an inactive roster. This could be as simple as flagging inactive players in the lineup select processes… or something more permanent. Why? Most leagues with have 25-28 active players for a given series. If you are using a micromanager, you want to make sure they don’t pick inactive players.

Q: I haven’t tried yet, but what happens if I add stats for player A playing for team A, and then I trade him to team B. Will collections deal with this correctly right now? Will the team stats be correct?

    @bstark Great feedback!

    1. The 30 player limit is arbitrary and can be easily changed. Was trying to balance forcing some strategy in pvp matchups (25 players is, essentially, an ‘active roster’) vs. adding some wiggle room for managers to bring more players in if they wanted to. If 30 needs to increase to 45, we can do that painlessly.

    2. We pulled the ‘add all from search results’ feature due to a bug and lack of time. Adding it back will require some effort but shouldn’t be too difficult.

    3. Similar to tournaments, our League functionality would have shared Collections associated. Making non-tournament and non-league Collections shareable keeps coming up, so… not sure the form it will take but consider shareable Collections on the list.

    4. Totally didn’t think of this, so thank you. Added to the list. I feel a Custom Teams 2.0 is definitely going to be a thing.

    5. Was already on the list as part of the Custom Lineups functionality. You’ll see it in 2019.

As for your question, I’m not sure. I think it will track the player on Team “A” until they are no longer on Team “A”. And then start tracking them on Team “B”. Team stats should be an aggregate of that activity, and include the player for their playtime on each team. I would have to research preferred behavior if the current behavior is not correct.

Thanks for taking the time to respond!

    @apba-go-jeremy

The stats for a traded player (or same player on two different teams) seems to work fine. So no issues there.

@apba-go-jeremy Sounds great! My only question is the minimum of 25 players for it to be a “complete” team. There are many tournaments where teams use less than 25 man rosters or if you are using teams from 1900-1930 or so there are many teams that did not have 25 on the roster at a time. It’s not a big deal but if there was an easy way to be able to mark a team as complete or ready to play with less than 25 players, that might come in handy.

@moore315-comcast-net This is a good point. Is there a way we could manually set the limit?

@moore315-comcast-net We’ll have to try how low we can go before the default lineup functionality breaks. You make a good point though and I’ll add it to the list.

@apba-go-jeremy, that’s great news. I just want to make sure i understand. So if i play in a 12 custom teams league, I will be able to reproduce my league by creating all 12 teams and play games with those teams?

@denis Yes, if you have access to the players you need to form those teams (i.e. you bought the teams or subscribed).

@apba-go-jeremy I’d put a strong request in for less than 25 players per team, like 11. For example, I still can’t play 1883 which has never been fixed because the roster sizes are too small. Sigh.
