Replaying the 1957 Chicago White Sox using actual lineups and using custom teams to adhere to in-season transactions. The 57 Sox finished with a record of 90-64, good for second in the AL, 8 games behind the New York Yankees. Can they make up the 8 games and catch the Yankees? Head to head match-ups with the Bronx Bombers will be huge.

23 Games are in the book, and the White Sox Results are right in line with their 1957 results:

The Standings behind the Sox look significantly different, however, thanks to the fact that the Sox swept 3 games from the Yankees in their first series of the season. In 1957, the Yankees were the ones who swept the Sox.

1957 Standings as of May 16th:

Update after 50 games. The White Sox have lost their last 4 games, one to Baltimore, and a 3 game sweep at the hands of the Yankees.

They are hanging onto first place over the second place Tigers, with the Yankees looming in 3rd place:

The White Sox and the Tigers have made a trade. The White Sox are sending Dave Philley to the Tigers and are getting Earl Torgeson in return.

Philley posted a .203/.282/.250 stat line for the Sox in 64 At Bats. Torgeson went 2 for 10 with 2 singles in 5 games of action against the Sox.

Seven more games in the books for the White Sox. They split a 4-game series with the Senators, and took 2 of 3 from the Orioles.

The Sox Remain 2 games off their 1957 pace:

The Yankees have moved past the Tigers into second place, just a game and a half behind the Sox:

The Sox and the Yankees kick off the next block of games with a 4-game set in New York.

One player that will not be with the team to take on the Yankees is Sherm Lollar. The Sox placed Lollar on the DL. Sherm has posted a rather pedestrian slash line of .220/.313/.302 for Chicago so far, but he has been solid behind the plate. In his absence, the Sox will turn to a combination of Earl Battey (.200/.300.314) and Les Moss(.143/.143/.286)

The White Sox finished the month of June on a tear. They are 11-1 in their last 12 games. After taking 3 of 4 from the Yankees, they swept 4-game sets from both the Red Sox and the Senators.

The hot streak has put the Sox 3 games ahead of their 1957 pace:

They lead the 2nd place Yankees by six games:

Another 13 games in the books for the White Sox, and they went 8-5 over those games.

    Tigers: 1-1
    Royals: 2-1
    Indians: 2-2
    Senators: 2-1
    Yankees: 2-0

The Sox continue to own the Yankees. The Sox have won 10 games against New York, while losing only 4.

At this point in 1957, the White Sox trailed the Yankees by 3 games in the standings:

But in the replay, they hold a 5-game lead over New York:
