MANCHESTER CITY (4-2-1) vs STOKE CITY (0-4-3)MANCHESTER CITY (TR 5; DEF 4) vs STOKE CITY (TR 2; DEF 1)
This match was much closer than expected considering the relative strengths of each team both offensively and defensively, but, close it was. Manchester City, coming off a loss to Chelsea last week, desperately needed a win this week. They got the 2-1 win, but, it was a tussle. It was a struggle for Man U even though Stoke City startng Midfielder, Choupo- Moting, was Red Carded 19’ into the game. At the half the neith team had scored.
56’ into the second half Peter Crouch scored on a Corner Kick from Xherdan Shaqiri for a 1-Nil Stoke City lead. It was his first goal of the season. This seemed to wake up Man C.
David Silva scored on a Corner Kick at the 59’ mark. Just six minutes later Raheem Sterling also scored off a Corner Kick for a 2-1 Machester City lead. That proved to be the final. It was Sterling’s second goal of the season and Silva’s first goal of the season.
Manchester City remains in second place in the Table, four points behind first place Chelsea.

BURNLEY (3-3-1) vs WEST HAM (2-3-2)BURNLEY (TR 3; DEF 4) vs WEST HAM (TR DEF 1)
Burnley played host to West Ham United and were favored to win the game and they did not disappoint the 21,401 fans at Turf Moor Stadium. West Ham played surprisingly tough for the vast majority of the first half, but, Burnley, who have now won their last four games, wore them down. At 45’+1’ Johann Gudmundsson buried a shot past West Ham Adrian for a 1-Nil lead. Chris Wood got the save. It was Gudmundsson’s third goal of the season.
The second half of the match belonged to Burnley. They dominated. It’s almost as if the last first half goal of Burnley took the air out of the sails of West Ham.
Ashley Barnes, who had been scoreless through the first seven matches this season, hit a Corner Kick at 72’ for a 2- Nil Burnley lead. It was the first of two goals for Barnes today. Barnes scored again at 83’ with another assist from Wood. That capped the scoring for the day at 3-Nil.
Burnley sits in 3rd place with 15 Points. Southampton, who plays New Castle United later today, could catch Burnly if they win.

SWANSEA CITY (2-3-2) vs HUDDERSFIELD (1-1-5)SWANSEA CITY (TR2; DEF 3) vs HUDDERSFIELD (TR 2; DEF 2)
Swansea City should have won this game. They were their own worst enemy. Ki Sung-Yueng’s second goal of the season came at the 18’ mark off a Corner Kick to give Swansea City a 1-nil lead. He then did the unthinkable at the 35’ mark - he was Red Carded. Still Swansea City held their own until their second huge mistake of the game. Midfielder Samuel Clucas headed the ball in the wrong direction scoring an “Own Goal” and tying the match at 1-1 at 82’. A bitter ending for Swansea who had hopes of moving up in the Tables farther than one point
