Reliever Usage Restrictions/Penalties

Is there an option that would prevent someone from unrealistically using relief pitchers earlier and in more innings to avoid the liability of lesser rated starters?

There are various useage rules out there that people use, but there is nothing built into the game engine that would prevent you from using anyone.

@falcon4fever My personal House Rules when it comes to reliever usage…
- No relief pitcher may ever be used in more than 2 straight games, UNLESS his team’s next game goes longer than 14 innings. In that case, a relief pitcher may be used in a third straight game, but must then sit out the next two games.
- Pitchers with an asterisk (*) designation only - or a Pitcher with a Starter rating who is appearing in a second consecutive game - CANNOT pitch more than six outs in a game. EVER.
- If a relief pitcher (who MUST also have a Starter rating on his player card) goes longer than six outs, he cannot pitch in the next game. If he goes longer than 12 outs, he cannot pitch in the next two games. If longer than 18 outs, next three games.
- If a relief pitcher pitches in back-to-back games, and his second appearance is elongated, add another game to his rest time (ie. he misses two games for anything longer than 6 outs… and three games for anything longer than 12 outs).

I thought that was the case. A league/tournament that I was thinking about participating in had no restrictions on reliever usage. When I asked about it, was told that the computer punishes reliever over usage. Thanks for confirming my thoughts,

@falcon4fever Keep in mind that, on APBA GO, you can always make any player ineligible for a game by clicking on the ‘Thumbs Down’ icon when setting up the lineups. This works well for injured players… as well as for Starting Pitchers who need rest… as well as for over-used relievers…
