Replay Process Document
-
I apologize if I missed it, but I was looking for a step-by-step set of instructions on what I need to do to set-up and then complete a full season replay. I have completed multiple BBW replays, so I am familiar with the concept, but I was hoping someone had detailed this out already for APBAGO.
I won’t be starting my project until later this fall (1967), so there is no hurry, but any pointers would be appreciated. Otherwise, I will probably do this myself if needed.
Thanks,

What kind of replay are you planning on doing? As-played with actual lineups, transactions and injuries? I have done a 1957 NL replay, a handful of single-team replays, and I’m in the process of replaying 1963 (both leagues) right now. I don’t have a documented set of instructions but I (and I’m sure others here) are willing to help you out however we can.

@alecotto75 I would be doing a full-season AL/NL replay using as-played lineups with trades, callups/releases, and injuries, again, as played. I figured there must be someone with detailed instructions on how to set all this up so that I (or anyone else) didn’t have to stumble through it for the first time.

You will find that a lot of the things that BBW does, you will have to do manually in GO.
It will be up to you to add/remove players from rosters as you proceed through the season. (You will have to have the custom team function in order to do this).
You will have to set the lineup for both teams before each game. There isn’t any way to load the lineups for a given day automatically.
I don’t mind these shortcomings, personally. For me, setting the lineups and processing the day’s transactions are part of the journey. But if you’ve done numerous BBW replays, it may feel like a step back for you.
This is the general process that I follow:
Make any roster changes for the day using the transaction file that I downloaded.
Create the games for the day, setting the lineups to match the actual lineups for that day.
After all the games are created, I’ll play the games for that day. Depending on my personal schedule, I might get all the games played in one sitting…it might take me a few days to get them played.
Once all the games are played, I’ll write up a brief summary of the day’s games, and then start the process over for the next day’s games.
One thing that I try to do is use pitchers for roughly the same number of innings that they threw in real life. I use a spreadsheet to track this. I use it to help determine which pitchers to use in a given game. This is another thing that you will have to handle yourself…GO doesn’t have anything in place to do this for you.
Hope this helps…let me know if you have any other questions.

@alecotto75 What you provided was kind of what I was expecting as far as game play goes, but what about administration … things like league set-up, reports (standings, league leaders, team and player reports).
I mean I will end up writing a detailed document on all the steps I went through to get my replay started, but that won’t be for another six months (after I finish my BBW 1920 replay). I am just doing some scouting right now.
Thanks again,
