Save not credited after double-switch

BATS II game. Seattle has a one-run lead on Cincinnati (a major upset as they are separated by about 35 wins after 120 games) heading to the top of the 9th. I inserted Putz in the 8 spot and Dave Valle into the nine-hole to get the M’s to fielding one and have Valle leading off if the Reds were to rally. The box score shows the following for the two players:

Dave VALLE P-P
And Putz is not credited with the save after working around a two-out double.
