Friday, May 24th
Vic Power’s two-run double in the bottom of the 3rd inning was the only offense in the game as the Twins defeated the White Sox behind a 5-hit shutout by Dick Stigman. Stigman improves to 5-2 on the season with a 2.66 ERA. The Twins hold a one game lead over Chicago in the American League.
The pitching matchup of Juan Marichal and Sandy Koufax lived up to expectations, as the game between the Giants and Dodgers was scoreless to the bottom of the 9th inning. Jose Pagan opened the inning with a double off Koufax. After a pair of groundouts by Willie McCovey and Willie Mays, Pagan stood on third base and watched Orlando Cepeda lift a fly ball over everyone’s head for a walk-off home run. Marichal lowered his ERA to 1.50 and improved to 4-2 on the season.
With an 11-2 victory over the Mets, the St. Louis Cardinals pulled to within 1 game of the Dodgers in the National League standings. Ken Boyer hit home runs number 6 and 7 for the Redbirds. Bob Gibson pitched 5 innings for the win, moving to 5-2 on the season with a 1.67 ERA. Harry Fanok worked the final 4 innings for his first save of the season.

Saturday, May 25
Trailing the Mets by a score of 6-1, the Cardinals score 3 times in the 4th and 4 times in the 5th on their way to a 9-8 victory. Gene Oliver drove in 3 runs for St. Louis while Ken Boyer and Leo Burke homered.
In another tightly contested game between the Giants and Dodgers, Nate Oliver’s two-out RBI single broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the ninth inning as Los Angeles prevails by a score of 2-1. The Dodgers maintain a 1 game lead over the Cardinals in the National league.
In the American League, the Tigers scored 3 times in the bottom of the ninth to upend the Boston Red Sox by a final of 5-4. Boston called on Jack Lamabe to protect a 4-2 lead, but a Jake Wood double and an Al Kaline homer tied the game at 4. A walk to Rocky Colavito followed by a Dick McCauliffe double ended the game.
In Minnesota, it took 11 innings for the Twins and White Sox to resolve their contest. The deciding run scored in the top of the 11th when pinch-hitter Al Weis singled on an excuse me swing with Joe Cunningham scoring from third base. The Tigers and Twins now sit atop the standings with identical 24-15 records. The White Sox sit one game back.

Highlights:
Chris Short (4-3, 2.21) goes the distance and Wes Covington drives home the game’s only run in the top of the first inning as the Phillies beat the Reds by a score of 1-0.
Hector Martinez goes deep twice for Kansas City, but the Angels prevail by a score of 8 to 7 in 14 innings. The Angels had 3 consecutive singles to open the 14th inning, Lee Thomas had the one that ended the game.
John Buzhardt took a no-hitter to the 7th inning for the White Sox against the Twins, but gave up a solo home run to Harmon Killebrew with one out. Buzhardt would give up 2 more homers in the inning to Bob Allison and Rich Rollins as the Twins win by a score of 3-1.
Curt Simmons improved to 4-3 on the season with a 2-hit shutout of the New York Mets as the Cardinals won by a score of 6-0.
Don Drysdale outdueled Jack Sanford as the Dodgers dropped the Giants by a score of 1-0. The game’s only run scored in the 4th inning when Ron Fairly scored as Johnny Roseboro beat out a double-play ground ball. Drysdale is now 5-4 on the season Sanford slipped to 7-4 with the loss.

Highlights:
Jim Landis breaks a scoreless tie in the bottom of the 8th inning with a solo home run. Joe Adcock answers back with a solo homer of his own in the top of the 9th inning. The White Sox prevail in 12 innings by a score of 2-1.The Twins overcome an early 2-0 deficit with 3 runs in the 5th and 2 in the 8th for a 5-2 victory over the Senators. Jim Kaat got the win and homered for the Twins.
Mickey Lolich earns his first win of the season, scattering 5 hits as the Tigers defeat the Angels by a score of 6-0.
The Twins hold a 1/2 game lead over the Tigers and a 1 game lead over the White Sox.
The Braves defeat the Dodgers by a score of 3-2 in 11 innings as Bubba Morton singles home Hank Aaron with one out.
Dick Ellsworth fires a one-hit gem as the Cubs blank the Mets by a score of 2-0. Ellsworth has a rather pedestrian record of 3-4, but his ERA is stellar at 1.89.
Ernie Broglio shuts out the Colt 45s on the way to his 7th win against just 2 losses. Houston managed just 1 hit off Broglio in the game.
St. Louis sports the best record in the majors at 33-13. The Dodgers are 1/2 game behind with a record of 32-13.

@alecotto75 i should clarify…how are you getting real life stats along with replay stats and standings on real date?

I export the stats from GO into a spreadsheet that contains the actual game logs from 1963. There are formulas in that spreadsheet that total up players real life stats from the game logs up until the date I’ve reached in the replay. Getting all the game logs into a spreadsheet is the hardest part, but I’ve figured out some automation that works with baseballreference.com that makes it a process that takes a few hours.

The Cardinals build up a 6 to 1 lead over the Colt 45s and hold on for a 6-5 victory. Al Spangler hit his 3rd homer of the season for Houston, Ken Boyer hit his 10th for the Cardinals.The Dodgers scored 6 times in the 7th inning as they pulled away from the Braves for a 7-3 victory. Johnny Podres remained perfect on the season with a 7-0 record and 2.38 ERA. Denis Menke hit his 2nd homer of the season for Milwaukee.
The Cardinals maintain a slim 1/2 game lead over the Dodgers in the NL.
The Twins rode a 5-run 3rd inning all the way to a 7-2 victory over the Washington Senators. The Twins got homers from Lenny Green (3) and Zoilo Versalles (1).
The Angels scored in every inning from the 3rd to the 7th as they knocked off the Tigers by a score of 10-5. Leon Wagner hit his 9th homer of the season for Los Angeles. Don Wert (3) and Jake Wood (6) went deep for the Tigers.

The Orioles overcame a 3-0 deficit with 1 run in the 8th and 2 in the 9th. They took the lead for the first time in the 13th inning and dropped the Athletics by a score of 4-3. John Orsino and Jackie Brandt each hit their 6th home runs of the season for the victors.
The Giants grabbed an early 3-0 lead and held on for a 3-2 victory over the Reds. Juan Marichal (5-2, 1.60) got the win with Bob Purkey (3-2, 3.19) taking the loss. Don Larsen earned his second save of the season.

Frank Malzone singled home Gary Geiger with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Red Sox topple the Yankees by a score of 6-5. Jack Lamabe (2-1, 1.95) got the win for Boston with Hal Reniff (1-2, 4.42) taking the loss.Juan Pizarro is ejected from the game for disputing a called ball in the 5th inning, but the White Sox still roll to a 6-1 victory over the Indians in game 1 of a doubleheader. The Sox rolled out to a 9-0 lead in game 2, but rain washed the game away. Pete Ward still gets credit for his 9th homer of the season.
Willie Mays hits a grand slam homer in the top of the 9th inning, helping to turn a 5-3 deficit into a 8-5 victory for the Giants over the Reds. Mays’ 17 home runs and 40 RBIs both lead the major leagues.
Ed Rakow shuts out the Orioles on 4 hits as the Athletics prevail over Baltimore by a score of 5-0. Rakow improves to 5-4 on the season with a 4.18 ERA.
The Senators score 5 times in the 5th inning on their way to a 7-4 triumph over the Twins. The Senators got homers from Bobo Osborne (10), Jim King (7), and Don Lock (4). Bob Allison hit his AL-Leading 14th home run in the loss.
Warren Spahn (6-2, 1.50) out-dueled Don Drysdale (5-5, 2.94) as the Braves bested the Dodgers by a score of 2-0. Denis Menke (3) and Joe Torre (5) went deep for Milwaukee.
In a battle of Jackson, Al (4-5, 4.62) and the Mets defeated Larry (6-3, 2.91) and the Cubs by a score of 3-2 in game one of a twin-bill. In game 2, Glen Hobbie (3-3, 3.35) blanked the Mets on 2 hits as the Cubs won by a score of 10-0.
In Pittsburgh, the home team took a pair of games from the visiting Phillies by identical 2-1 scores. In game 1, Don Cardwell (2-3, 2.60) took a shutout to the 9th inning, but surrendered a run to Philadelphia. In game 2, the Pirates rallied with a run in the 8th to tied and a run in the 9th to win. Donn Clendenon tripled home Jerry Lynch with the game-winner.
In St. Louis, the last-place Colt 45s upended the first-place Cardinals by a score of 4-2. Jim Campbell (3) homered for Houston and Turk Ferrell (3-6, 2.37) got the win with Hal Woodeshick earning his first save of the season.
In the AL, the Twins lead the White Sox and Tigers by one half game. In the NL, the Cardinals lead the Dodgers by one half game.

John Buzhardt improves to 5-2 on the season as White Sox defeat Gene Conley (0-6, 10.86) and the Red Sox by a score of 8-2.Jim Maloney (6-6, 2.51) and the Reds shut out Bob Miller (4-2, 3.28) and the Dodgers by a score of 5-0.
The Yankees pour it on late for an 11-4 victory over the Indians. Tom Tresh (5) and Mickey Mantle (10) homered for New York. Whitey Ford (5-5, 3.10) got the win, with the loss going to Mudcat Grant (2-5, 4.73).
The Senators withstand a 9th inning rally by the A’s to hold on for a 3-2 victory. Washington scored it’s runs on solo homers by Bobo Osborne (11), Chuck Hinton (7) and Ken Retzer (3). Ron Kline (1-1, 1.16) got the win with Jim Duckworth earning his first save. John Wyatt (2-1, 1.23) took the loss for Kansas City.
The Orioles jumped out to an early 5-1 lead and cruised to an 11-3 victory over the Angels. Al Smith (3), Brooks Robinson (5), Boog Powell (8) and Jerry Adair (3) went deep for Baltimore. George Thomas (3) and Leon Wagner (10) homered in the loss for Los Angeles. Milt Pappas (3-5, 3.81) got the win with Dick Hall (3) earning a save. Dan Osinski (2-1, 5.26) was charged with the loss.

With one out in the 9th Earl Battey (7) homered off Jim Bunning (5-5, 2.95) to tie the game at 2. Later in the inning, pinch-hitter Jimmie Hall (5) hit a 3-run homer to win the game for Minnesota. Jim Perry (3-1, 3.22) went the distance and earned the victory.
Behind Ken Johnson (3-5, 2.37), the Houston Colt 45s knock off the Milwaukee Braves by a score of 7-4. Bob Shaw (2-6, 3.79) took the loss with Don McMahon (1) earning a save against his former team.
Don Schwall (2-5, 5.34) and the Pirates blanked the Mets by a score of 10-0 in New York. Willie Stargell (3), Jerry Lynch (3) and Bob Bailey (3) homered for Pittsburgh. Carl Willey (1-6, 5.40) took the loss for the Mets.
In Philadelphia, the Cubs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead against Chris Short (5-3, 2.39) and the Phillies, but Bob Buhl (4-6, 3.87) could not hold the lead and the Phillies prevailed by a score of 6-3. Johnny Klippstein earned his second save of the season. Clay Dalrymple and Frank Torre each hit their first home run of the season in the victory for Philadelphia.
The Giants made the game interesting with 3 runs in the top of the 9th inning, but the Cardinals held on for a 6-4 victory. San Francisco got homers by Orlando Cepeda (13), WIllie Mays (18) and Felipe Alou (6). Dick Groat (2) and Stan Musial (7)
homered for the Cards. Curt Simmons (5-3, 2.14) was the winning pitcher and Jack Sanford (7-5, 2.50) the loser.In the American League, the Twins maintain a half game lead on the White Sox. The Cardinals lead the Dodgers by a game and a half in the National League.
