Each team had a player hit a pair of home runs in the Twins 12-5 victory over the Red Sox. Rich Rollins blasted his 3rd and 4th homers for the Twins, Carl Yastrzemski his 4th and 5th for Boston.

Tuesday, May 21.
John Buzhardt took a no-hitter into the 8th inning but Ken Retzer spoiled the bid with a one-out single. The White Sox prevailed by a score of 3-0 with Buzhardt completing the shutout. The win propelled Chicago into first place in the American League. With a record of 24-14, the Sox lead the Twins by one game.
In Los Angeles, Johnny Podres remained unbeaten on the season, as he won his 6th game with a 3-0 victory over the New York Mets. With a record of 29-11, the Dodgers lead the National League by 2 1/2 games over the Cardinals.
At 9-31, the Houston Colt 45s trail the Dodgers by 20 games but on this day, Ken Johnson gave the Houston fans something to cheer about as he twirled a 3-hit shutout of the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. It was Johnson’s second win against 5 losses, but he sports a fine ERA of 2.34 on the season.
Chuck Estrada of the Orioles improved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-hit shutout of the Detroit Tigers. The win moved Baltimore to 20-18 on the season and kept the Orioles 4 games back of the league-leading White Sox.

Wednesday, May 22
Bennie Daniels gets his first win of the season as he blanks the first-place White Sox by a score of 6-0. Jim King and Ken Retzer supported with home runs for the Senators.
The White Sox still hold a 1 game lead over the Twins and Tigers. The Twins fell to the Red Sox by a score of 6-5 and the Tigers defeated the Orioles by a score of 5-2.
In the National league, the Dodgers maintain a 2 1/2 game lead over the Cardinals as both teams were victorious. Ray Washburn blanked the Cubs scattering four hits as the Cards prevailed by a score of 4-0. The Dodgers fell behind to the Mets 3-0 but rallied with 3 runs in both the 7th and 8th innings for a 6-4 victory.
Willie Mays smacked a pair of solo homers for the Giants in a 3-1 victory over the Phillies. At 23-19, the Giants are 7 games back of the Dodgers. Mays leads all of baseball with 16 home runs on the season.

The Orioles defeated the Senators by a score of 4-2. Bob Saverine homered for Baltimore, his first of the season. Robin Roberts went the distance for the win to improve to 4-2 on the season.
The Cardinals gained a half game on the idle Dodgers with a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Stan Musial had 2 hits and 2 RBI to lead the Cardinals. Ernie Broglio moved to 6-2 on the season with Bobby Schantz earning his 3rd save. Billy Williams provided all 3 Chicago runs with his 7th homer of the season.
The Braves got homers from Denis Menke, Eddie Mathews and Joe Torre and knocked off the Reds by a score of 6-1. Denny Lemaster went the distance for Milwaukee, improving to 4-2 on the season. Daryl Spencer drove in the lone run for the Reds.

Friday, May 24th
Vic Power’s two-run double in the bottom of the 3rd inning was the only offense in the game as the Twins defeated the White Sox behind a 5-hit shutout by Dick Stigman. Stigman improves to 5-2 on the season with a 2.66 ERA. The Twins hold a one game lead over Chicago in the American League.
The pitching matchup of Juan Marichal and Sandy Koufax lived up to expectations, as the game between the Giants and Dodgers was scoreless to the bottom of the 9th inning. Jose Pagan opened the inning with a double off Koufax. After a pair of groundouts by Willie McCovey and Willie Mays, Pagan stood on third base and watched Orlando Cepeda lift a fly ball over everyone’s head for a walk-off home run. Marichal lowered his ERA to 1.50 and improved to 4-2 on the season.
With an 11-2 victory over the Mets, the St. Louis Cardinals pulled to within 1 game of the Dodgers in the National League standings. Ken Boyer hit home runs number 6 and 7 for the Redbirds. Bob Gibson pitched 5 innings for the win, moving to 5-2 on the season with a 1.67 ERA. Harry Fanok worked the final 4 innings for his first save of the season.

Saturday, May 25
Trailing the Mets by a score of 6-1, the Cardinals score 3 times in the 4th and 4 times in the 5th on their way to a 9-8 victory. Gene Oliver drove in 3 runs for St. Louis while Ken Boyer and Leo Burke homered.
In another tightly contested game between the Giants and Dodgers, Nate Oliver’s two-out RBI single broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the ninth inning as Los Angeles prevails by a score of 2-1. The Dodgers maintain a 1 game lead over the Cardinals in the National league.
In the American League, the Tigers scored 3 times in the bottom of the ninth to upend the Boston Red Sox by a final of 5-4. Boston called on Jack Lamabe to protect a 4-2 lead, but a Jake Wood double and an Al Kaline homer tied the game at 4. A walk to Rocky Colavito followed by a Dick McCauliffe double ended the game.
In Minnesota, it took 11 innings for the Twins and White Sox to resolve their contest. The deciding run scored in the top of the 11th when pinch-hitter Al Weis singled on an excuse me swing with Joe Cunningham scoring from third base. The Tigers and Twins now sit atop the standings with identical 24-15 records. The White Sox sit one game back.

Highlights:
Chris Short (4-3, 2.21) goes the distance and Wes Covington drives home the game’s only run in the top of the first inning as the Phillies beat the Reds by a score of 1-0.
Hector Martinez goes deep twice for Kansas City, but the Angels prevail by a score of 8 to 7 in 14 innings. The Angels had 3 consecutive singles to open the 14th inning, Lee Thomas had the one that ended the game.
John Buzhardt took a no-hitter to the 7th inning for the White Sox against the Twins, but gave up a solo home run to Harmon Killebrew with one out. Buzhardt would give up 2 more homers in the inning to Bob Allison and Rich Rollins as the Twins win by a score of 3-1.
Curt Simmons improved to 4-3 on the season with a 2-hit shutout of the New York Mets as the Cardinals won by a score of 6-0.
Don Drysdale outdueled Jack Sanford as the Dodgers dropped the Giants by a score of 1-0. The game’s only run scored in the 4th inning when Ron Fairly scored as Johnny Roseboro beat out a double-play ground ball. Drysdale is now 5-4 on the season Sanford slipped to 7-4 with the loss.

Jim Kaat got the win and homered for the Twins.
Mickey Lolich earns his first win of the season, scattering 5 hits as the Tigers defeat the Angels by a score of 6-0.
The Twins hold a 1/2 game lead over the Tigers and a 1 game lead over the White Sox.
The Braves defeat the Dodgers by a score of 3-2 in 11 innings as Bubba Morton singles home Hank Aaron with one out.

@alecotto75 i should clarify…how are you getting real life stats along with replay stats and standings on real date?

I export the stats from GO into a spreadsheet that contains the actual game logs from 1963. There are formulas in that spreadsheet that total up players real life stats from the game logs up until the date I’ve reached in the replay. Getting all the game logs into a spreadsheet is the hardest part, but I’ve figured out some automation that works with baseballreference.com that makes it a process that takes a few hours.

Al Spangler hit his 3rd homer of the season for Houston, Ken Boyer hit his 10th for the Cardinals.The Dodgers scored 6 times in the 7th inning as they pulled away from the Braves for a 7-3 victory. Johnny Podres remained perfect on the season with a 7-0 record and 2.38 ERA. Denis Menke hit his 2nd homer of the season for Milwaukee.

The Twins rode a 5-run 3rd inning all the way to a 7-2 victory over the Washington Senators. The Twins got homers from Lenny Green (3) and Zoilo Versalles (1).
