Catchers getting credit for triple plays?
-
This is a really odd one… I went to look at the fielding stats after I had an actual triple play in a game. That was not recorded, but I did find that several catchers (8 to be exact… one twice) were credited with triple plays… is the stat collection counting a triple play as recording 3 outs in an inning? But then if that was the case, clearly some 1st baseman would have some as well. Very strange indeed… anyone else notice this (I have reported it to support)

I just took a look at my Fielding stats for my current GTOP tournament. Sure enough, I also have a bunch of Catchers being credited for being a part of TP’s. Can’t explain it though. I can’t recall any Triple Plays happening in my tourney…

Figured it out.
I DID have a Triple Play in my tourney. Pedro Feliz and Jimmy Rollins teamed up for one for the 2008 Phillies. But it is incorrectly recorded as a Passed Ball (PB) in the fielding stats.
And Hank Gowdy did have two Passed Balls in his limited appearances with my 1914 Boston Braves, but they are recorded as Triple Plays (see chart above).
So it appears the TP and PB column names should simply be switched… -
You got it! I didn’t notice until you said, but my one triple play (by the Angels) is definitely recorded as PB for the 3 infielders involved.
Glad it’s an easy fix! (Hopefully support is looking at the forum). -
@wildfire2099 I sent Support a note about this as well. Am sure it will be corrected soon. :+1:
