Release 2.5.0
-
Hi Everyone,
We’re back with 2.5.0!
New things you’ll notice:
- Ohtani Rule - Allows Pitchers to also DH and stay in game in one position when removed from the other.
- Three Batter Rule - Makes pitchers have to face three batters before being allowed a substitution.
- Autoplay games are much faster
New things you might notice:
- New/refactored MicroManager system - a back end change, that, during the implementation of which, revealed some missing MicroManager behaviors in Malcolm and Pedro that were added/fixed
Things you probably won’t notice:
- Refactored game engine - all the game engine code is new/reworked. Functionality should not be different. APBA plays and play results are not affected. May cause new bugs in gameplay; might have solved some gameplay bugs.
- Reduced database size significantly with goals of cost reduction and performance increase
Known issues:
Slowdown accessing Collections - but exporting large Collections should be improved- FixedBring blank lineups into lineup selection results in a 400 error when switching between home/away screens. Workaround is to load default lineups and rework them instead.FixedRuns scored on plays where they shouldn’t- Fixed, as far as we knowIssues with PayPal purchases- FixedSupport form errors on submit- FixedBenching status not respected; errors in roster interface- FixedLineups - Adding an OF to lineup and then assigning to CF/RF/LF drops Def rating from column and calculation- FixedOptional Pitching Rule does not turn on when flagged on- FixedClicking the Forums link from the main page spawns an OAUTH error- FixedUser status doesn’t update- FixedRoll result indicator on cards is missing- FixedPassword reset email leads to 500 error- FixedIn-game cards do not reflect batting/fielding stats for pitchers- FixedGame doesn’t pause after MM pinch hits- FixedClicking on-deck batter results in a 500 error- Fixed500 error on Custom Lineup deletion- FixedCollections career stats no longer aggregating- FixedMM games not ending- Fixedforum usability errors and version update- FixedMM games pitchers allocate incorrectly- FixedMM games users can click through to next play before current play is complete- FIxedPinch hitters showing up as pitchers on Boxscore- FixedDuplicate entries on Boxscore- FixedLineups - in certain circumstances lineups do not save correctly- FixedBoxscore formatting issues (PH/PR)- FixedVisiting team defensive ratings not updating- FixedPedro substitutes out of game pitcher- Fixed
One way to summarize this release is that a lot of code behind the scenes changed, and that is both exciting in terms of opportunity for the project while also potentially introducing bugs where there were previously none. Please email Support (support@apbago.com), if you encounter any along with the play by play file for the game in which you experienced the issue.
It’s been a while since our last release and a lot of work went into this one, so we hope you enjoy it and what it will better allow us to make in the future.
Thanks,
Jeremy -

GAME PLAY ISSUE
Last night in a league game it’s top of 10th inning first and third two outs, my opponent does a hit and run and rolls a 44=8 against an A pitcher, infield was deep, game result is see no. 28 below, out at first, runners advance one base 6-3. in this situation it scored it as a run scored though it was the third out. The run does not count in that situation.
In another situation I was just notified by one of our league managers a similar result occurred.
With two outs, second and third, infield deep, they roll a 32=26, it’s a force out at first 4-3, the run was counted. -
@TSBL So we set up a Solitaire game and we clicked on the pitcher’s card and we see this:
Edit: Understand now, it’s on the list.
Thanks,
Jeremy -
@josephas2 Thanks.

@TSBL Collections are taking a long time to load after the release. For larger Collections, the site times out before it’s complete. We are investigating and working on a fix. If you have a smaller Collection, you should be able to wait it out and it will load.

Hi Everyone,
Today we think we discovered the issue with Collections; tomorrow morning we’ll be deploying a partial fix and hopefully the full resolution will deploy soon after.
The Support form was fixed this morning, so we can get back to properly communicating about support issues.
If you encounter a game with a problem play, be sure to save the improved Play By Play at the end; getting it to Support will help us identify the play that is causing the problems and remedy it.
Thanks for the ongoing feedback about issues.
Thanks,
Jeremy -
@APBA-GO-Jeremy , “…be sure to save the improved Play By Play at the end; getting it to Support…”. The list time Support asked me to send it to them, the system would not allow it. It said the file was too big. Has that issue been fixed?
-
@striker2550 Hi,
It would be sent as an email attachment to the email response to Support’s email request asking for it… I’m not sure what to say as we do not control the size of email attachment you’re allowed to send.
The Play By Play file you send is less than a MB in size and is a simple .html file, so it should work with modern email systems.
Thanks,
Jeremy -
We made an executive decision to change a color on the lineup screen before entering a game.
Previously, a player in a resolved (assigned and not duplicated) position that was not their primary position, would show the position as orange.
This looked a lot like red, and these old eyes were having a hard time telling the difference.
After a long, catered committee meeting held in an expensive hotel, we decided to change the color to purple.
So, now, players in the lineup are represented thusly:
- GREEN - Players in their primary position, with the position resolved (uniquely assigned)
- PURPLE - Players in a position that is not their primary position, with the position resolved (uniquely assigned)
- RED - Players in a position that is not resolved (duplicates or an unassigned OF)
I apologize for moving the cheese and I hope it ultimately improves the experience for you.
