Season Replay One Team?
-
Howdy–I’ve done a few re-plays–with the Astros and of course you must save the collections and compare with the actual stats–if you have the subscription, it will help immensely.
-
I made a custom team of my team–example–2017 Astros–and put every player on the roster that played that season–If you have the time and want to–you could do that for every team I guess–but that would be a task.
-
Go to baseball reference and follow the actual schedule and use the actual lineups for both teams–you will be able to do that with your customer team–but sometimes you have to sub a player that isn’t on the apbago roster–you’ll have some instances where a player was traded, so they won’t be on your opponent’s roster. In that case I try to sub a player with equal or better stats.
-
I’ll use the actual lineup including starting pitcher. You can turn off the injuries if you want or not–but don’t pay any attention to them if you get one, because the actual lineup will make it unnecessary.
-
I try to follow the pitching changes as best I can–but you have to use your own discretion in some cases–like a starter getting blown out early–or vice versa–maybe he really did get blown out but, in your game, he’s cruising–I just tried to pitch the guys that pitched that game as realistic as possible. If you do that–your starting pitchers should have exact number on starts and very similar innings pitched. You would want the same for bullpen–close to exact appearances and similar IP.
-
I just play it solitaire–it’ll come out more realistic than Malcolm or Pedro–you just have to try and be as fair as possible–
If you try and follow the actual lineups and use the starters and bullpens realistically–you will be amazed at how close your results will be to the actual. The collection does all your work–all you have to do if play and then check the stats. I did Astro replays for 2017-2019–and it was so close it was eerie. The teams did exactly the same ultimate outcome–Champs in 2017–out in the first rd in 2018–lost in game 7 WS–The individual players stats were close too–but some definitely overachieved and others under.
Be patient and have fun!
God bless

@jtmiller Trying to replay the 1973 and 1986 Mets. Doing it pretty close to you and taking some ideas. Trying to stay as true as possible with the relievers. I use the actual starters and try very hard to use relivers as used. If auto play, they use Tom Seaver to close (He is some closer!). I have not gone crazy with traded players I just use someone similar. However if a regular starting position player is out that game I am sure to keep him out of the lineup, even if a traded player replaced him that day.
I am particularly interested in the 73 Mets. They were a true Cinderella story and it will be interesting to see how tings pan out statistically. I am seeing already the 86 Mets are very good. Playoffs would be quite interesting since both series Astros (SORRY) and Red Sox you can argue could have easily gone the other way.
