    The 1947 Yankees and 1956 Yankees split their six game series. Both teams have identical 35-31 records.

    The '47 Yankees won the first two games of the series. Allie Reynolds pitched an unusual no-hitter in a 4-0 win in Game One in which he walked seven batters. Joe Dimaggio drove in all four runs with a three-run homer and a RBI single. Dimaggio struck again in Game Two with a two-run single in the 8th to break a 3-3 tie which led to a 6-3 win. The '56 Yankees got their offense cooking as they won the next three games while scoring 26 runs. They won Game Three 10-3 on the strength of 12 hits and 10 walks; Andy Carey led the way, going 4-6 with a homerun and six RBI. They won the next two games 8-1; in Game Five, Moose Skowron hit two homeruns and drove in four RBI. Reynolds helped the '47 Yankees earn a split with a solid performance in the final game, a 4-3 win.

    Dimaggio hit .381 in the series with two homeruns and seven RBI. He raised his average to .303 with 47 RBI. George McQuinn is hitting .287 with 49 runs scored. Reynolds is now 11-3 with a 2.30 ERA. Joe Page picked up two saves in the series; he is 2-0 with 21 saves and a 1.85 ERA.

    Mantle kept his average at .315 with 13 homeruns and a .961 OPS. Yogi Berra leads the team in RBI with 56 while hitting .282. Skowron currently leads the team in homeruns with 15 while hitting .269 and a team-leading 55 runs scored. Whitey Ford pitched his sixth complete game; he is 8-3 with a 2.55 ERA. The '56 Yankees will face the 32-28 2000 Yankees in the next series.

    The 1956 Yankees won their first series after losing or splitting the last four series by beating the 2000 Yankees four games to two. The '56 Yankees improved their record to 39-33 while the 2K Yankees dropped to 34-32.

    The 2K Yankees won Game One 11-7 thanks to scoring eight runs in the 7th and 8th innings combined. David Justice went 3-5 with a triple, homerun, and five RBI. Tom Sturdivant struck out 11 for the '56 Yankees in a losing cause. The '56 Yankees won the next four games. They blasted five homeruns in an 11-6 Game Two win; Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra each hit two homeruns and Gil McDougald hit the other. Mantle had his fingerprints on the next two wins. Trailing 2-0 in the 9th inning of Game Three, Mantle hit a tying two-run homerun which was followed by a Hank Bauer walk-off triple to score Berra for a 3-2 comeback win. In Game Four, Mantle hit a two-run homer in the 5th which proved to be enough for a 2-1 win.

    Mantle hit .333 in the series with six homeruns and nine RBI. He is now hitting .317 overall and jacked up his homerun and RBI totals to 19 and 52 respectively while raising his OPS to 1.008. Berra is now in double figures in homeruns with 10 while hitting .270 and a team leading 59 RBI.

    Derek Jeter leads the 2K Yankees in hitting at .294 with 62 runs scored and a .406 OPS. Justice hit .360 in the series with two homeruns and nine RBI. He raised his overall average to .241 with 20 homeruns and 60 RBI. Andy Pettitte has been their most effective starting pitcher at 6-3 with a 2.90 ERA. The 2K Yankees will take on the 33-33 1941 Yankees in the next series.

    The 1941 Yankees and the 2000 Yankees split their six game series. The '41 Yankees remained an even 36-36 while the 2K Yankees stayed two games over .500 at 37-35.

    The series went back-and-forth the whole way with the 2K Yankees winning games one, three, and five and the '41 Yankees winning games two, four, and six. In Game Two, Charlie Keller led the '41 Yankees to a 7-3 win by going 3-4 at the plate with a homerun and four RBI. In Game Four, Joe Dimaggio hit a grand slam as part of a five run 6th inning for a 6-2 win. In the final game, the '41 Yankees trailed 2-0 in the 6th inning until Joe Gordon hit a bases-clearing triple to give them a 3-2 lead; they held on for a 5-4 win.

    Dimaggio is hitting .339 for the '41 Yankees with 27 homeruns, 73 RBI, 61 runs scored, and a 1.138 OPS. Two other players, Keller and Tommy Henrich have more than 50 RBI. Keller is hitting .254 with 17 homeruns and 54 RBI while Henrich is hitting .224 with 14 homeruns and 51 RBI. Marius Russo and Spud Chandler both have 2.66 ERAs; they have a combined record of 15-9.

    Derek Jeter continues to stay steady, hitting .294 with 67 runs scored and a .407 OBP. David Justice leads the team in homeruns with 21 and RBI with 64. Roger Clemens picked up his 10th win; he is 10-3 with a 3.24 ERA. Mariano Rivera picked up two saves to give him 17 on the season with a 1.63 ERA. The 2K Yankees will play the 35-31 1947 Yankees in the next series.

    The 1947 Yankees and the 2000 Yankees split their six game series. The '47 Yankees stayed four games over .500 at 38-34 while the 2K Yankees remained two games over at 40-38.

    The '47 Yankees scored seven runs in the first two games, both wins. They needed every single one in Game One’s 7-6 win; they nearly blew a 7-1 7th inning lead as the 2K Yankees rallied for five runs in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings. Spec Shea pitched a two-hit shutout in Game Two for a 7-0 win. The 2K Yankees won the next three games. They won Game Three 5-3; Tino Martinez drove in four of the five runs. They overcame a 2-0 8th inning deficit in Game Four with a three run rally, made possible by a Snuffy Stirnweiss error, which eventually led to a go-ahead two-run homer by Bernie Williams for a 3-2 win. They won Game Five 5-4 thanks to David Justice who hit two homeruns and drove in four of the five runs. The '47 Yankees earned the split in the final game with a 7-3 win. The game was tied 3-3 in the 7th, until Joe Dimaggio hit a three-run homer to break the game open.

    Dimaggio leads the '47 Yankees in hitting at .294 and in RBI with 53. George McQuinn is hitting .290 and leads the team in runs scored with 51. Shea’s shutout improved his record to 7-5 with a 4.51 ERA. Allie Reynolds continues to pile up wins with two more in this series, giving him a 13-3 record with a 2.49 ERA.

    Jeter slumped in this series as his average dropped down to .279, still best on the team. He has 72 runs scored and a .400 OBP. Justice now has 23 homeruns and 69 RBI while hitting .235. A tale of two pitchers: Roger Clemens picked up another win, making him 11-3 with a 3.21 ERA. Orlando Hernandez picked up his 10th loss, making him 1-10 with a 6.50 ERA. Mariano Rivera picked up three more saves to give him 20 with a 1.79 ERA. The 2K Yankees will face the 27-21 1978 Yankees in the next series.

    The 1978 Yankees and 2000 Yankees split their six game series, keeping the '78 Yankees six games over .500 at 30-24 and the 2K Yankees two games over .500 at 43-41.

    Despite 10 strikeouts from Ron Guidry, the 2K Yankees won Game One 3-1. Ed Figueroa helped even the series in Game Two with a one-hit shutout in a 8-0 win; Mickey Rivers was 3-4 with a three-run homerun, a stolen base, and two runs scored. The 2K Yankees won 3-1 again in Game Three, and the '78 Yankees evened the series again in Game Four with a 2-1 win; Reggie Jackson hit a two-out, two-run homerun in the 6th to give them the lead. The two teams continued to alternate wins with the 2K Yankees winning Game Five 9-3 and the '78 Yankees taking the last game 5-2. Bernie Williams was the star of Game Five, going 3-5 with a triple, homerun, and three RBI while Willie Randolph led the '78 Yankees in the final game by going 3-4 with a double, two stolen bases, two RBI, and two runs scored.

    Reggie Jackson leads the '78 Yankees in hitting at .318 with 17 homeruns, 45 RBI, 44 runs scored, and a .989 OPS.Figueroa’s shutout adds on to a dominant start to his season; he is 9-1 with a 2.25 ERA. Guidry has struck out 101 batters in 94 1/3 innings. Goose Gossage picked up a couple of more saves to give him 19 for the season.

    Derek Jeter continues to struggle as his average fell to .268, still best on the team. He did increase his runs scored total to 75. Roger Clemens won again; he is now 12-3 with a 3.08 ERA. Mariano Rivera notched two more saves to give him 22 with a 1.66 ERA. The 2K Yankees will battle the 34-26 1939 Yankees in the next series.

    The 1939 Yankees and 2000 Yankees split their six game series; the '39 Yankees stayed eight games over .500 at 37-29 while the 2K Yankees remain two games over .500 at 46-44.

    The '39 Yankees took the opener 9-7; Tommy Henrich led the offense, going 2-4 with a homerun and five RBI. The 2K Yankees won the next two games in dramatic fashion. In Game Two George Selkirk gave the '39 Yankees a 4-2 lead in the 4th with a grand slam. Johnny Murphy gacked the 9th inning by walking in two runs and giving up a walk-off sac fly to Paul O’Neill for a come-from-behind 5-4 win. In Game Three, The 2K Yankees led 3-0 after seven innings until Selkirk provided heroics on offense and defense. He hit a two-run homer in the 8th to cut the lead to 3-2. Then after they tied the game on a sac fly in the 9th, Selkirk threw out a runner at the plate in the bottom of the inning to temporarily keep the '39 Yankees in it. Jorge Posada hit a walk-off two run homer to give the 2K Yankees a 5-3 win. Selkirk remained hot in Game Four as he went 2-4 with a homerun, a stolen base, four RBI and two runs scored in a 11-7 slugfest win by the '39 Yankees to tie the series, despite five homeruns hit by the 2K Yankees. The 2K Yankees took a 3-2 lead in the series with a 3-1 win in Game Five; Scott Brosius hit the go-ahead two run homerun in the sixth which made the difference. The '39 Yankees dominated the final game 10-1 to earn a series split. Red Ruffing gave up just one hit, a Brosius solo homerun.

    Charlie Keller leads the '39 Yankees in hitting ar .324 with a .936 OPS. Joe Dimaggio and Bill Dickey have hit 12 homeruns; Dickey leads the team in RBI with 56 while hitting .258. Selkirk had been struggling until this series; he hit .313 in the series with three homeruns and 10 RBI to raise his overall average to .195 with nine homeruns and 30 RBI. Ruffing won both of his starts to improve his record to 9-1 with a 2.10 ERA. Murphy continues to be erratic as the closer; he is 0-5 with 13 saves and a 6.63 ERA.

    Derek Jeter raised his average to .273 to lead the team; he leads the team in runs scored with 81. David Justice has 25 homeruns and 75 RBI to lead the team in both categories. Mariano Rivera had one blown save in this series but saved another for his 23rd of the season to go with a 1.86 ERA. The 2K Yankees will face the 46-32 1937 Yankees in the next series.

    For the fifth straight time, the 2000 Yankees split another six game series, this one with the 1937 Yankees. The '37 Yankees stayed 14 games over .500 at 49-35 while the 2K Yankees remain two games over at 49-47.

    This was a fun offensive series. Joe Dimaggio kicked things off for the '37 Yankees in Game One with a 3-6, double, homerun, and four RBI performance in a 16-7 shootout. Bernie Williams hit two dingers in a losing cause; he would be far from done. Williams hit two more homeruns in Game Two, his second a two-run blast to give the 2K Yankees a 5-4 lead in the 8th inning. Tino Martinez added another two-run tater for a 7-4 win. The 2K Yankees won the lowest scoring game in Game Three 4-3 then took a 3-1 lead in the series with a thriller in Game Four. The '37 Yankees jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st. The 2K Yankees came back and took a 5-4 lead in the 7th when Williams struck again with a two-run homer. The '37 Yankees came right back in the bottom of the inning when Dimaggio hit a two-run homer of his won to retake the lead 6-5. The '37 Yankees could not close the win as Derek Jeter ambushed Johnny Murphy in the 9th with a solo homerun to tie the game, and David Justice added a two-run blast to give the 2K Yankees an 8-6 win. The '37 Yankees managed a split by winning the last two games 6-3 and 11-8. Dimaggio went 2-4 with two homeruns and five RBI in the final game while Justice hit two homeruns in a losing cause.

    Lou Gehrig hit .500 in the series to raise his average to .344 with 22 homeruns, 64 RBI, 86 runs scored, and a 1.159 OPS. Dimaggio had an insane series; he hit .480 with five homeruns and 17(!) RBI to raise his overall average to .302 with 32 homeruns and a ridiculous 105 RBI with a 1.011 OPS. Lefty Gomez and Red Ruffing have nearly identical numbers; Gomez is 9-3 with a 2.62 ERA while Ruffing is 10-3 with a 2.61 ERA. Kemp Wicker and Spud Chandler have identical 5-4 records with identical 3.82 ERAs.

    Jeter continues to hold steady at .273 with 11 homeruns and 87 runs scored. Williams hit .400 with five homeruns and 11 RBI to raise his overall average to .270 with 22 homeruns and 65 RBI. Justice hit four more homeruns to give him 29 for the season and drove in seven runs to give 82 RBI for the season. Roger Clemens had two ugly starts to give him a 12-5 record with an ERA of 3.73. Mariano Rivera saved all three wins to give him 26 for the season with a 1.68 ERA. The 2K Yankees will battle with the 18-12 1951 Yankees in the next series.

    The 1951 Yankees beat the 2000 Yankees four out of six games in their series to improve their record to 22-14. The 2K Yankees dropped back to .500 at 51-51.

    Vic Raschi won Games One and Six; he pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out nine in game One for a 10-0 win and gave up just one run in the last game for a 3-1 win. The 2K Yankees evened the series in Games Two and Four; Derek Jeter and David Justice hit solo homeruns for a tight 2-1 win in Game Two, and Paul O’Neill hit a go-ahead solo homerun in the 10th inning of Game Four for a 3-2 win. The '51 Yankees won the final two games to take the series.

    Hank Bauer leads the '51 Yankees in hitting at .328 with a .937 OPS. Yogi Berra leads the team in homeruns with eight and RBI with 33 while hitting .262. Raschi’s two stellar outings improved his record to 6-3 with a 1.98 ERA. Allie Reynolds has been even stingier at 3-1 with a 1.57 ERA. Closer Joe Ostrowski gave up his first earned run after 22 consecutive scoreless innings; he is 2-1 with eight saves and a 0.36 ERA.

    Bernie Williams has taken the team lead in hitting for the 2K Yankees at .271 with 23 homeruns and 67 RBI. Jorge Posada is hitting .254 with 18 homeruns, 62 RBI, and 102 walks. David Justice hit his 30th homerun of the season in this series. Mariano Rivera saved both games to give him 28 for the season with a 1.58 ERA. The 2K Yankees will take on the 26-16 1936 Yankees in the next series.

    The 1936 Yankees and the 2000 Yankees split their six game series. The '36 Yankees stay 10 games over .500 at 29-19 while the 2K Yankees stay at .500 at 54-54.

    After losing the opener 7-6, the 2K Yankees won the next two games. David Justice drove in all three runs in Game Two including a two-run homer in the 6th to break a 1-1 tie on their way to a 3-2 win. Bernie Williams went 2-3 in Game Three with a double, homerun, three RBI, and two runs scored in a 5-3 win. The '36 Yankees evened the series in Game Four 2-1; Roy Johnson drove in both runs, including a walk-off single in the 9th after Frankie Crosetti and Jake Powell hit back-to-back two out singles. Andy Pettite shut down the '36 Yankees in Game Five with a three-hit shutout in a 2-0 win. The '36 Yankees earned the series split with a 6-1 win in the last game.

    The '36 Yankees have four players hitting over .310 with a .900 or better OPS. Bill Dickey is hitting .342 with a .963 OPS. Lou Gehrig is hitting .339 with 25 homeruns, 67 RBI, 59 runs scored, and a 1.297 OPS. Joe Dimaggio his hitting .319 with 12 homeruns and a .974 OPS. George Selkirk is hitting .318 with a .962 OPS. Despite giving up 14 homeruns in 12 starts, Red Ruffing is 9-2 with a 3.86 ERA. Pat Malone has 11 saves in 14 appearances with a 2.30 ERA.

    Williams continues to lead the 2K Yankees in hitting at .272 with 24 homeruns, 70 RBI, 70 runs scored, and a .913 OPS. Derek Jeter now has 93 runs scored while hitting .265. David Justice has 33 homeruns and 89 RBI to lead the team while hitting just .227. Pettite’s shutout improved his record to 9-7 with a 2.80 ERA. Mariano Rivera picked up his 30th save in this series while his ERA fell to 1.43. The 2K Yankees will play the 15-9 1950 Yankees in the next series.

    The 1950 Yankees obliterated the 2000 Yankees by sweeping them in their six game series. The '50 Yankees are now 21-9 while the 2K Yankees fell six games below .500 at 54-60.

    The '50 Yankee offense was relentless; they scored 62 runs in the series and no fewer than six runs in any game. Games Three and Five were prime examples. In Game Three, they trailed 9-3 after four innings. They scored four in the 7th and tied the game in the 9th thanks to TWO Mariano Rivera errors. They scored three in the 11th for a 12-9 win in which they had 22 hits and four RBI from Hank Bauer, Bobby Brown, and Billy Martin. They laid 20 on the beleaguered 2K Yankee pitching staff in Game Five for a 20-2 mashing; every player scored at least one run, and Joe Dimaggio, Yogi Berra, and Jerry Coleman had five RBI apiece. There was room for great pitching too. Ed Lopat pitched a five-hit shutout in Game Two for a 9-0 win. Somehow, Fred Sanford spread out nine hits in the last game for a 6-0 whitewash in which the 2K Yankees left 14 men on base.

    Bauer leads the '50 Yankees in hitting at .368 with a .921 OPS. Johnny Hopp is hitting .333 with a .956 OPS. Johnny Mize is hitting .304 with 10 homeruns and a 1.013 OPS. Dimaggio is hitting .294 with 33 RBI. Phil Rizzuto is hitting .290 with 26 runs scored and a .408 OBP. Lopat’s shutout improved his record to 5-0 with a 2.08 ERA. With Sanford’s shutout, he has pitched 22 scoreless innings to start the season.

    Bernie Williams remains steady at the plate at .272 with 25 homeruns and 71 RBI. David Justice hit three more homeruns in this series to give him 36 for the season with 93 RBI. After a hot start, Roger Clemens has had a loss or a no decision in his last five starts; he is 12-6 with a 3.69 ERA. The 2K Yankees will take on the 19-11 1923 Yankees in the next series.

    After dropping two of the first three games, the 1923 Yankees won the final three games in their six game series with the 2000 Yankees to win the series 4-2. The '23 Yankees improved their record to 23-13 while the 2K Yankees fell to 56-64.

    The 2K Yankees got off to a roaring start in Game One with an 11-2 win to break a seven game losing streak. Tino Martinez hit a grand slam and drove in five of the 11 runs. The '23 Yankees evened the series in Game Two with a 6-2 win; Joe Bush retired the first 24 batters before giving up back-to-back doubles by Luis Polonia and Scott Brosius in the 9th. The 2K Yankees won 10-4 in Game Three in a contest where a lot more runs could have been scored. The '23 Yankees left 14 men on base while the 2K Yankees left 15 on base. Every 2K Yankee either scored or drove in a run. The '23 Yankees cooled off the 2K Yankee offense in Game Four with a 1-0 shutout. Waite Hoyt pitched a three-hit shutout, and Babe Ruth drove in the only run in the 1st. with a triple. The the offense for the '23 Yankees kicked in as they won the final two games 10-5 and 15-2. Bob Shawkey pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts, and Aaron Ward went 3-5 at the plate with a double and five RBI.

    Ruth leads the '23 Yankees in hitting at .364 with 17 homeruns, 47 RBI, and a 1.480 OPS. Bob Meusel is hitting .345 with a .909 OPS. Hoyt remains undefeated at 5-0 with an ERA of 1.00.

    Bernie Williams stays at .272 with 25 homeruns, 73 RBI, and a .909 OPS. Derek Jeter has 98 runs scored while hitting .257. David Justice went homerless but drove in three more runs to give him 96 for the season. Andy Pettite picked up his 10th win; he is now 10-8 with a 3.03 ERA. The 2K Yankees will face off with the 20-10 1938 Yankees in the next series.
