Replay Set Ups, Etc.

I use Baseball almanac to copy that games lineup as best I can. If there were trades you will not find some players so I just try to replace with an equal player. For example, if I am playing the 73 Braves (I am The Mets) and Hank Aaron is not in the lineup but his replacement is not on the roster, I would not put Aaron in. I would put another player in.
I play Solitaire mostly. The bad part is the AI manager will use Tom Seaver as a closer where that is not reality. If i was not playing AI I’d see who pitched that day and use only those pitchers.

@APBA-GO-Jeremy Thanks. I will have to figure out how that is done.

@APBA-GO-Jeremy Found it! Thanks for the help!

@falcon4fever good replays are tough. I once tried using the exact pitchers as played. but its hard to put a DW* in a 1-1 game bases loaded in the 8th like they did in real life.
You tend to over use the better relievers. Even using them to same total innings is tough because you use them in blowouts but in real life they pitched meaningful innings.
thats why almost everyone wins more games in a replay then the team did in real life. -
The “wins more games than the teams did in real life” hurts my pride. : )
All along, I thought it was my brilliant managing that was leading my teams to more wins than IRL.
Your theory makes a lot of sense since we are managing based on cards/results that occurred over that season. So, it’s like we have inside information. -
I am currently replaying as played 1984R. I use baseball-reference for linueps and benching players as stated by Jeremy. Teams’ pitching- game logs will show for the month/season all the pitchers used. I save lineups under the name of the starting pitcher so I can just select his name when pitches and everything other than a tweek to the lineup is ready to go.
I am using Malcom to play games I dont care about and it seems “ok”. He never lets pitchers go past 7 innings so that is a minus but I guess he does the job.

I play as played when replaying one team. I use the lineup from Baseball Almanac. I use the starting pitcher and relievers that entered. I am not exact on the reliever entry and they may never even enter, they are available. If a player is not on the roster I do not go crazy I just use a similar player so if a star player is sitting I keep him out.
Full season replay I am using default lineups and using the actual start and keeping the relievers that entered available.

Thanks. I am going to start a single team replay (as played) with the 1901 Pirates. It will be fun to research the past and learn more baseball history while exploring the dead ball era. I am going to use APBA GO’s collections feature to keep all stats, etc.
