looking at the new fielding stats brings to light how way off they are. the errors for full year replay Fielding 1 teams i have completed are off the charts. Larkin 46 errors? Sandberg 41

    lol
never realized how many errors APBA creates with that 53

For what it’s worth, I just looked at the defensive stats (on Collections) for a big 256-game tournament I ran last year. These were GTOP teams from 1901 to 2019. My tournament fielding average was .980.
Then I went to baseball reference dot com to see what fielding averages have been over the years. From 1950 to present-day, the MLB fielding average has never been lower than .975 and never higher than .985.
So my .980 tourney average was perfectly aligned in the middle.
Agreed, you’re going to get individual stats that are off, but I’m confident that the overall errors numbers are remarkably accurate with the game engine.

that’s great to hear. I think it was just more with basic fielding and no master game fielding you get the SS and 2B who are outstanding with high individual error numbers. ie Like Sandberg with 40+ errors in a season when team is F2 etc.

For me, some stats in the basic game are hard to recreate, such as individual errors and singles vs grade B and higher pitchers. In the end I think APBA basic gets it right. The feel and flow of the game is more important (to me at least) than recreating every stat. Just my 2 cents. Have a great day guys.
