I’m undoubtedly going to show my ignorance here, but can someone tell me how I can play as the visiting team in a game against the micro manager? I know it has to be simple, but I can’t figure it out. Just discovered this treasure a couple days ago. I was addicted to APBA baseball growing up more than 40 years ago. It’s still a thrill when the computer rolls a 66. I have lots of other questions, but I’ll save them for another time.

@kulbaden Welcome. There are a lot of great people on this site and a lot of great APBA players.
As for your question, no, there is no way to play Malcolm, the Micro Manager as the visiting team, at least at this time. That has been brought up in the past and is probably on the list of things being worked on, as well as other options for the Micro Manager. You won’t play many games against Malcolm before you realize he plays every game as if it were game 7 of the World Series, including bringing in starters in relief, even when relievers are not really needed. He will not always start the better pitchers on a staff, but he will use them. .

@hoffridge Thanks so much for the answer. Other than a former friend of mine who would pinch hit Oakland A’s pitcher Mike Moore (one career at-bat, one double) in every clutch situation and roll 66, I’ve never really met a bad person who plays APBA.

@kulbaden I haven’t played a game against the Micro Manager in a couple of years. He would make too many bizarre decisions that simply made the games not fun for me. I would highly recommend playing solitaire games instead.

@monk Manager rating is supposed to indicate experience with competitive play, either against a computer AI (fewer points) or human opponent (more points). No points are awarded for solitaire because they would be too easy to get (you always win).
