Awesome! I really enjoyed the few games I played a few years ago. Lost the game in a “downsize” due to a move, but have recently repurchased and am looking forward to getting some games rolled very soon.

@falcon4fever I enjoy it so far. I wish the rulebool was a little more polished. Not that it is bad but things like missing skaters on the 4 on 4 are a bit fidgy. I have been giving it to the other skater when a skater is missing but an “official” rule, unless I missed it, would be nice.

Still, it’s a good game! I can’t wait to give the rules another go over and get more games in. I am going to make a penalty box clock to help timing. Perhaps a shift clock as well.

@BuffaloHead Cool! I’ve been on the fence about getting APBA Hockey for a while now and there’s so little information about the game online (videos/replays etc.) compared to baseball, so I will enjoy hearing your thoughts. I have Hockey Blast and love it but there’s this nagging feeling that I have room for more than one hockey game in my life…

@steelygaze It is better than Hockey Blast. Far more complete. The only knock on it is that the instructions aren’t clear what do when a player is miss ing due to penalty. Fortunately the old version of the game the rules were more concise. If a player is missing during a rebound situation, the goalie simply covers for a face-off. If it is a pass or steal situation, the player who rolled rolls again on his card for a new result. Not sure on a faceoff situation. I would tend to say that the ref blew the faceoff dead and re-face off.

@BuffaloHead I’ve never felt Hockey Blast lacked in any “completeness”. Primarily my concerns are how long a game takes and realism (not necessarily “statistical” realism, but the “feel” of a real hockey game). Some time back I tried Inside the Crease and disliked the FAC-based gameplay and largely identical goalies. It took me way too long to play even one period. Almost an hour-and-a-half with full stat keeping. Granted that could just have something to do with misunderstanding elements of the time-advancement system and my own personal dislike of cards in place of dice.

I’m keen on APBA Hockey because of the plethora of seasons and because I love the elegant appearance of the APBA cards. I’ll have to keep it on my list to really consider.

@steelygaze Well if you are completely satisfied with Hockey Blast why change? I can only give my opinion (and that is all that it is) but I found hockey blast fun but sort of a mix between a quick play and a full game. For me, APBA hockey does more.
