    Hello everyone!

I think that the question listed above is one of the biggest questions that has been asked since I started following Major League Baseball. I am going to replay their 2018 Regular Season using my strategy instead of the strategy that was used in real life. Their are going to be certain rules used to make it as realistic as possible. Those rules will be listed below. This is going to be an ambitious full season replay (162 Games + Playoffs) so I am not going to put an end date on it. I will follow the exact season schedule.

First Pitch: Wednesday, January 26, 2019

I will be using the Basic Game rules in everything except base running which will comply with the Master Game rules. One other modification. If a player at his position is rated in the best 2 possible numbers i.e. shortstop’s best ratings are 9,10, therefore a 9 or 10 shortstop cannot make an error with the bases empty. Pitchers do not apply.

    Pitchers Rules:

    All Maximums Amounts.

A&B Relievers: Can only pitch 3 outs (1 inning).
A&C Relievers: Can only pitch 3 outs (1 inning).
A Relievers: Can only pitch 3 outs (1 inning).
B Relievers: Can only pitch 6 outs (2 innings).
C Relievers: Can only pitch 9 outs (3 innings).
D Relievers: Can only pitch 6 outs (2 innings).

All Starting Pitcher Inning Limits are negated if they have allowed less than two hits and their team is in the lead.

A&B Starters: Can only pitch 30 outs (10 innings).
A&C Starters: Can only pitch 30 outs (10 innings).
A Starters: Can only pitch 30 outs (10 innings).
B Starters: Can only pitch 27 outs (9 innings).
C Starters: Can only pitch 27 outs (9 innings).
D Starters: Can only pitch 21 outs (7 innings)

Position Player Rules: No player that played in under 45 games in a season are allowed to start a game until September or when a team has clinched a playoff berth.
Position players that can or did pitch in a game, can only pitch when their team is down 7 or more runs past the 6th inning.

    The Playoffs:

I am going to subtract the wins and losses other teams had against the D-backs i.e. the Los Angeles Dodgers were 8-11 against the Diamondbacks and their overall record was 92-71 which means at the start of the replay they will have a record of 84-60. This applies to all the teams the D-backs played. The playoffs will be played normally following MLB regulations.

I will post updates on here after every series the D-backs complete.

This looks like a lot of fun! I have done similar before… including changing all the other teams records like you are doing. I didn’t really too much about set rules… but I used retrosheet.org and the actual lineups for each game, and tried to use all the players used as much as it made sense. Obviously you don’t use your closer if you are down by 10 runs etc… =)

You could also consider creating a custom team for the Diamondbacks, which would allow you to add/remove players from the roster is they changes occurred in real life.

    Whatever you do… have fun!

I am actually using the actual game instead of APBA Go. I love feeling the cards and the dice and scoring the game. I will definitely check out the website.
