Unable to insert pinch hitter in 2 games tonite

I played 2 games this evening and in both games - I was unable to insert a pinch hitter for the pitcher. The first game was (1946) PHIA-DET and the second game was (1969) CHIN-NYN.

Both games were played in solitaire mode.

I was able to make pitching changes - but in both games, I tried to insert a pinch hitter for the pitcher in batting slot #9 and was unable to do so. The drag and drop function did not work.

Any assistance in getting this corrected would be greatly appreciated.

@jjgils The tricky bit about substitutions in Solitaire mode (and as an aside, improving the substitution system is going to happen some time in 2019), is that the team you want to make the substitution for has to be active in the turn cycle. In other words, you can’t make your subs anytime, you have to make substitutions to hitters when the team is batting (bat icon in the action bar). Hope that helps!

Thanks for the response. I will play again tonite and see if it works. When, I played 2 games last nite - in each game, I tried to pinch hit fior the pitcher when it was his turn to bat, but could not drag and drop a hitter to his spot (9th) in the order.

In previous games until last nite (I will guess maybe 10 games), I was able to move a pinch hitter into the 9th slot when strategy called for a pinch hitter.

When, I played last nite, while unable to insert a pinch hitter, the computer would allow me to make pitching changes by brining in a relief pitcher.

It was “operator error” - I am back in the game and I see what you are saying in your reply. I need to make the changes when the bat icon is in the action bar. I am playing again tonite and it works if I try to make a change with the bat icon in the action bar. I was attempting to make the changes last nite when the batter was due up but before I had clicked to where the bat icon was in the action bar.

Thanks again for your assistance and support! The online platform is fabulous. I probably split my play 50/50 between actual C&D vs the online platform.

I have made the same mistake many times. =) The first few I thought something was wrong, and then I figured it out. Even after figuring it out I sometimes still try to do it.
