WS Winner Tournament- Comments/Questions
-
Jeremy…our tournament has 4 people playing the same team…( Houston 2017)…will the system allow them to play head to head?
-
Jeremy…Re playing same team…I also just noticed in the listing of games…on some ( not all interestingly) of the head to head same team match ups…the “Red” reset tab is highlighted allowing for the game to be reset I guess. I saw the message board post on allowing same team to play each other…should I click on the reset button or can the game be played either way?
-
@apba-go-jeremy just completed 2 tourney games (world series winners ) and there does not seem to be a place to collect the boxscores??
-
@jnoga There’s no easy link from the Tournament Collection but if you take note of the game date/time and go to Game History and find the game, you can click on the Boxscore button to view the box score.
We’ll make it easier to get to box scores from the Collection in a future release.

@apba-go-jeremy Nice job…it appears that the boxscores from tourneys go directly to a collections sheet for that particular tourney. I checked on my 2 games in the World Series Winners tournament and the stats were there. Again, good job and
thanks. -
@apba-go-jeremy Not sure of the solution and maybe it is not a big issue but the process/information available to schedule/play a tourney game is challenging. Maybe it will be helped if we end up having a tourney message board. Right now it appears the listing of games to be played does not let you know if your opponent is or is not available to play. I "joined " a game tonight and set my lineup but my opponent was not available so it is in limbo waiting for him. When he sets his lineup I will most likely not be online.
-
@backstreets We actually had that join game button toggle depending on your opponent’s online and availability status, but disabled the functionality while we fixed the chat/online status bug as it prevented people from joining tournament games. We’ll re-enable the functionality soon, which should resolve this issue.
Thanks for letting us know!

@apba-go-jeremy Jeremy…perfect and that is good for all Tournament players to know

@backstreets Jeremy…so back to the question of playing the same team against each other. I saw your note from John. So are we ok…will the system allow this in the Ws Winner tournament?..in the listing of games that have not been played some ( but not all) of those head to head match ups have the “reset” tab highlighted. Should I click on that or leave alone? Thanks Mark
-
@backstreets As far as I know they should work. Please give us a heads up if they don’t. I’m not sure about the reset button behavior; we’ll look into it.
But generally, yes, the system has the ability for the same team to be entered in a tournament multiple times (filling all slots, if desired).

@apba-go-jeremy Thanks…admin question. What happens if a player gets " removed" from a tourney without playing any games. Can they be replaced with another player or do all their games just get forfeited?
-
@backstreets At this point, the player is removed, games are forfeited and that’s it.
There was internal debate about this particular instance. I’m not convinced the current implementation is the best. We are open to suggestions on this topic.
-
@apba-go-jeremy Thanks…as we know this is an evolving process and we are learning as we go. So that is good to know…so it sounds like there is no difference between “removing” a player vs individually forfeitng his particular games…unless if they have played some but not all of the games and you “remove them” do the played games get forfeited?. Anyway it sounds like under the current set up there is no reason to “remove” someone as you can just forfeit their games if needed.
Now a feature that may be very helpful to have is the ability to “remove” a player and replace them with another after the tourney has started as what happens to a tourney that gets started and someone gets busy/plans change etc and they can no longer play the games?..that of course is why the forfeit feature is there but if they have played zero games it would also be nice for the benefit of the tourney and the other players to be able to bring a new player. Especially if it is a tourney with a small number of players.
-
@backstreets I think removal at this point is just a faster way to forfeit their games, vs. clicking individual ones.
I can’t remember what happens to played games when you ‘remove’ a manager… I’ll have to check in the a.m.
I’ll add allowing a new manager to enter a tournament if a manager is removed with zero games played to the to do list, thank you!
-
@apba-go-jeremy Perfect
-
Just a note: All manager rating points for tournament games played will be retroactively applied when we deploy the fix. Also, I made tournament games worth 5 manager rating points more than regular head to head games as a thank you for helping us figure out the issues. It’s much appreciated.
The fix should be applied in our next release.

@apba-go-jeremy Fantastic…much apprieciated !
-
Jeremy…there is a game in the WS Tourney that for what ever reason went to “forfeit” during the set up. I went in to try and reset but it is not giving me that option as I guees the game is considered complete in the system. Let me know if there is anything we can do about this or for this tourney we may just have to live with it for that game. The game is Arfoc 19 Cincincati vs ejmny 61 Yankeees…thanks
-
@backstreets It seems that these types of forfeits (player abandonment from a game)(I know this didn’t happen here) were in place before tournament functionality and the tournament reset code does not accommodate them. This is going to be classed as a bug and fixed for a future release.
In the meantime we are going to manually reset that game.
Thanks for letting us know!
