MANCHESTER CITY (TR 5; DEF 4) vs EVERTON (TR 2; DEF 2)

One play made the difference between Everton getting no points fo the week and getting one point by earning a surprising 1-1 tie with Man C. For Man C this was a highly disappointing game. They fully expected three points.

THE PLAY - Manchester City attempted a trap, and it failed miserably. Morgan Schneiderlin perfectly timed the play as Dominic Calvert-Lewin perfectly timed and placed pass led to a 1-0 Everton lead.

Manchester City had seven shots on goal, but, Everton Goalee, Jordan Pickford, stopped all but one frustrating Man C as the game wore on.

Each team now has four points at the end of week two.

BOURNEMOUTH 1 - 3 MANCHESTER CITY

BOURNEMOUTH (TR3; DEF 2) vs MANCHESTER CITY (TR 5; DEF 4)

Manchester City, (2-1-0), had Rasheem Sterling in the lineup today after missing Week Two’s match due to a Red Card in Week 1. He was no real factor but his presence did seem to invigorate his mates as they win handily, 3-1. Kyle Walker got the Man C off to a quick start with a goal in the 7’ with an assist from David Silva.

Adam Smith gave Manchester Cuty fans a few gray hairs when he tied the game at 1-1 with an assist from Joshua King at the 37’. After that, the game belonged to Manchester City.

Sergia Aguero put Man C on top in the 54’ with an unassisted goal, then in the 73’Danilo scored to ice the match; Leroy assisted.

Bournemouth are still looking for the first points of the season as they currently stand 0-0-3. Smith’s goal is the only goal of the season for Bournemouth.

CHELSEA 4 - 2 EVERTON

CHELSEA (TR 4; DEF 4) vs EVERTON (TR 2; DEF 2)

Chelsea came into the match as the favorite and they lived up to the bill with a 4-2 win, but, Everton played them tougher than expected, expecially in the first half. Willian scored fir Chelsea in the 9’ with an assist from Alvaro Morata. It was Willian’s second goal of this young season.

Calvert-Lewin tied the match with an unassisted goal in the 25’.

Marcos Alonso gave Chelsea a 2-1 lead with a goal in the 35’ with an assist from Cesar Azilpcueta. Eveton fought back hard and in the 41’ Idrissa Gueye was awarded a Penalty Kick and made good on it to tie the game at 2-2.

Not to be outdone Chelsea’s Eben Hazard scored on a Penalty Kick of his own in the 43’ and Chelsea went into the locker room with a 3-2 lead. After the Hazard goal Everton seemed to falter.

At 90+1 Morata scored Chelsea’s 4th goal; it was unassisted as Chelsea wins it, 4-2.

Crystal Palace, (0-2-1), fresh off last weeks 1-1 tie with Liverpool, were hoping to win their first match of the season. Swansea, (1-1-1), having surprised Manchester with a 3-nil last week, were hoping to add three more points. Neither team accomplished their goal becasue, wee, there were no goals as this match ended a 0-0.

Crystal Palace dominated play and managed 12 shots with four on goal but, Swansea Goalie, Lukasz Fabianski, turned away all four shots on goal. Crystal Palace managed 8 shots with 3 on gioal, but, Wayne Hennessey, like Fabianski, turned away all three.

So, each team managed to eek out one point.

HUDDERSFIRLD (TR 3; DEF 3) vs SOUTHAMPTON (TR 2; DEF 2)

Southampton looked to remain unbeaten as they invaded Kirklees Stadium, home of Huddersfield. Southampton did just that as they edged the home town heros, 1-Nil. The goal was scored on a SP; the ball was stolen deep in Southampton’s territory and eventually found it’s way to the foot of Nathan Redmond who beat Jonas Lossl in the 51’. Dusan Tadic gave Redmond a perfect pass.

Soouthampton made it tough on themselves when Tadic was Red Carded in the 83’. Still, Southampton hung on for the hard-fought win. Losing Tadic for Southampton’s next match will make it more difficult for them to remain undefeated.

Huddersfield had one last chance to tie the game in the 88’. Tom Ince was awarded a Penalty Kick - and missed. That ened the hpes of the 24,121 Huddersfield fans.

NEWCASTLE UNITED 2 - 2 WEST HAM UNITED

NEWCASTLE (TR 3; DEF 4) vs WEST HAM (TR 2; DEF 1)

Newcastle had an expectation of winning this match, but, it did not materialize as the two teams played to 2-2 draw. West Ham shocked Newcastle with a goal by Manuel Lanzini at 2’ on a SP Steal. Still, Newcastle felt confident.

At 25’ Ayoze Perez scored his 3rd goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1. Matt Ritchie was awarded the assist. Perez delivered his EPL leading 4th goal of the season at 35’ and Newcastle now held a 2-1 lead. Christian Atsu assisted on the goal. Then, disaster. Jamaal Lascelles was Red Carded at the 45’ mark. Newcastle was forced to play shorthanded for four minutes stoppage time in the first half and all second half.

Newcastle toughed it out and was hanging on to their 2-1 lead until Michail Antonio, who was all over the pith all game, scored the tying goal at the 75’ mark. That capped the scoring for the day.

Tottenham and Burnley each played a lackluster game and it was reflected in the score - no goals were scored. This was a loss for Burnley.

Brighton surprised Watford and played the part of the rude guest as Brighton defeats Watford, 1-Nil. This was an especially satifying victory for Brighton because two of their player, Solly March and Jose Izquierdo were ineligible due to Red Cards the previuos match.

The only goal of the match came at the 45’ mark when Brighton stole a ball and managed to get it to Pasal Gross in the Penalty area. Gross beat Heurelho Gomes for the only goal of the match.

Watford’s record now stands at 1-0-2 while Brighton is now at 1-1-1.

No one expected Manchester U to start the season 0-2 with no goals. Today, Man U earned their first points of the season with a win over Leicester City, 2-1. While the score was close, the game was not and Manchester dominated play, continuing winning loose balls and dominating the field of play. It was a credit to leicester that they hung in to make it a match.

Manchester scored their first goal of the season. It came in the 17’ off the foot of Alexis Sanchez with an assist from Luis Valencia. Their second goal came in the 43’. It was scored by Juan Mata with an assist by Paul Pogba.

In the 51’ Wes Morgan scored for Leicester, amking the Man U extremely nevous, but, that was all Leicester could muster.

WEST BROMWICH (TR 2; DEF 2) vs STOKE CITY (TR 2; DEF 1)

Stoke City either played wonderfully to a 3-3 draw OR West Bromwich failed to win a game they should have won. Either way it was a wild game with the final two goals being scored within three minute of each other.

At the half Stoke City had a 2-nil lead on the strength of a goal by Kurt Zouma, (Ryan Shawcross), at 22’ and a goal by Eherdan Saqiri, (Shawcross) at 38’.

Things started to unravel for Stoke in the second half. At 57’ Stoke City’s Mame Diouf headed a ball into his own goal, and suddenly the Stoke lead was cut to 2-1. At 67’ Jay Rodriguez scored for West Bromwich on a Corner Kick with an assist from Matt Phillips. It was now, 2-2.

Stoke rallied, however. Ryan Shawcross scored at 82’ and Stoke City regained the lead, 3-2. Their euphoria was short-lived. Phillips scored just three minutes to knot the score at 3-3; that was the final.

Stoke City’s Erik Pieters, was Red Carded at 58’. West Bromwich was a man up for 34’. While they scored three times in the 2nd half to earn a tie, they could have won this match.

LIVERPOOL 2 - 3 ARSENAL

LIVERPOOL (TR 4; DEF 4) vs ARSENAL (TR 2; DEF 2)

The final match of Week 3 saw Arsenal ride a strong first half, when ther scored three goals, to a 3-2 win against favored Liverpool. Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored at the 4’ with an assisted by Ignacio Monreal.

Liverpool’s Roberto-Firmino tied the match at 21’ with a great pass from Mohamed Salah. The ie lasted just three minutes when Arsenal retook the lead, 2-1, when Alexandre Lacazette beat Loris Karius, assisted by Salah. Arsenal then scored their third goal at 29’ Alex Iwobi, assisted by Aaron Ramsey, for a 3-1 Arsenal lead. Arsenal had 11 SOG in the first half.

Liverpool pulled to within a goal at the 49’ mark on aCorner Kick Header by Emre Can. Liverpool started to show some dominance until Salah went down with an injury at 59’. Liverpool’s fate was sealed when Can received a second Yellow Card at 88’.

Salah is not expected to miss the next match

MANCHESTER CITY 3 - 2 LIVERPOOL

MANCHESTER CITY (TR 5; DE 4) vs LIVERPOOL (TR 3; DEF 3)

The game got off to a horrible start for ManC when Robero Firmino scored in the first minute. It got worse for the home team as 55,097 Man U fans were horrified when Liverpool went up 2-0 in the 22’ when Kevin DeBruyne headed a ball into his own goal. You could hear a pin drop at american Express Community Stadium. But Man U is a resilient team.

At 34’ DeBruyne went from goat to hero with a goal directly from the corner on a Corner Kick. Man C then tied the game at 43’ when Fernandinho tied the game with an assist from Leroy Sane.

It began to look like this match might endin a tie. Manchester C started to dominate about 3/4 of the way through the second half, and, in the 88th minute, it paid off when Raheem Sterling took a corner from DeBruyne and beat Loris Karius for a 3-2 Manchester City lead. That proved to be the final.

Bournemouth came into this game as the nolt team without any points on the Table; they left the game with three points with a stunning 2-1 win over Arsenal. Bournemouth started fast with Felix Stanislas taking a Corner from Josh King and beating David Ospina with a header for a 1-0 Bournemouth lead. Somewhat stunned Arsenal allowed another goal, this one by Dan Gossling, also on a Corner from King. Bournemouth held a 2-nil.

Arsenal perked up at 27’ Alex Iwobi beat Asmir Begovic with an assist from Granit Xhaka. The half ended with Bournemouth on top, 2-1.

The second half saw Arsenal being a bit more dominant, but, Bournemouth held firm. Neither team a scored in the second half.

Brighton dominated play, especially in the 2nd half, but, they did not dominate on the scoreboard as the two teams played to a 1-1 tie.

West Bromwich scored forst. It came in the 6’ mary with Jay Rodriguez beating Matt Ryan with an assist from Jose Rondon. Rodriguez now has four goals on the season and is tied with Ayoze Perez of Newcastle United - each with four goals.

Jose Izquierdo scored at the 60’ mark assisted by Pascal Gross. Izquierdo did not start the game. He started the second half and replaced Anthony Knockaert, who was hit with a Yellow Card at the 20’ mark. The move payed off.

Everton picked up three points by defeating Tottenhme Hot Spur, 1- Nil. The winning goal, and only goal, was scored by Indrissa Gueye; it came in the 48’ with an assist from Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Despite the 1-Nil score this was a spirited game. Much of the action took place A,B and C sections, but, results, other than the Gueye goal, were non-existent.

Tottenham missed a huge opportunity. Dele Alli was awarded a Penalty Kick in the 79’. EVerton fans were ear splitting as Dele Alli kick missed wide.
