I need help. I’ve looked far and wide on the web to find all of the abbreviations and what a certain play means and I cannot find much. I know that PO means “put out”. I understand all the abbreviations for the player positions aswell, however Im seeing alot of A- or C- and im wondering what it means. Is it the rules you follow if there is an A or C grade pitcher? I honestly wish they would spell out the plays but most of them I understand with the abbreviations just not about half of them.

context might help… ‘A-’ followed by a position like ‘A-SS PO-1B’ would be ‘assist’.

I now on some of the charts C would be the result for ‘corners in’ on defense but if you could put exactly where you’re seeing that I can say for sure.

I forgot exactly which one it was because I started the inning over since im still learning and I didnt want to stop playing but a simple example would be "pop fly out; PO-2B (Y-SO;PO-C)
I know that the basic meaning of this is a pop fly out second baseman catches the ball but the part in parentheses is confusing. I have no idea what Y is or SO. Im pretty sure PO-C means “put out by catcher” but its just plays like this that I can half decipher and half of it I have no idea. This one specifically but I know there are more complex examples where the abbreviations might not be obvious even for someone who is into baseball. They dont really talk that way exactly when youre watching a game or listening on the radio. Some of it for sure but half of it isnt obvious and there is no key in the rulebook.

stuff like (K-SO;PO-C) which im assuming means if its a pitcher with the letter (K) next to their name they strike out? and they are put out by the catcher? I mean like I said there is nothing on the apba website. I found some info on a forum but its incomplete.

yes, that’s right… the result in parenthesis is if the pitcher has the rating indicated… it will either turn an out into a strikeout or vise versa (though not too many guys have Rs these days). you’ll also see that for walks.

PO-C is indeed Putout for the Catcher.
