Are Go ratings based on real cards?
-
I assumed they were exact replicas of the actual cards but I ran into a 1982 tigers Dan Petry card and he had an A. Looked up the actual cards and he only had a b. Looked up the rest of the team and almost all of the pictures are a full grade better in original 82 apba go than they are the actual 82 original set! What gives?

Perhaps you are comparing GO’s 1982R set with the original 1982 set?
-
No trust me I have double checked. All three are different actually.

Can you look into this or answer my question by any chance? I assume the cards are supposed to be based on the original cards?

@Wchatrison355 In my original card set for 1982 (12 on 32), Petry is a 2B. In the 1982 card set copyright 2021, (12 on 23), Petry is a 2By. In the Original card set Petry received a 15 Master Game Grade which while a B in the original release, was an A when the Master Grades were updated. That release was electronic only. In the newest (2021) revision, Petry is a 13 Master Game Grade.

Well I kind of understand LOL. He was a borderline guy and with an master electronic update he sort of just fell through the cracks to become an a kind of on a technicality. Sounds like the apba Go cards go by this electronic update and the master rating more than they do the original card basic pitcher rating,? It’s kind of convoluted and hard to follow but I generally got it. Thank you
