25-inning Marathon on APBA GO
-
Guys… just witnessed the most amazing game in my 51 years of playing APBA. ‘92 Jays and ‘84 Padres battled 25(!!) innings before San Diego won 7-6 on Terry Kennedy’s second solo HR of the game. 😲😳
Toronto had taken a 5-3 lead in the top of the 8th on a pinch-hit grand slam by Domingo Martinez. But with one out in the bottom of nine, Carmelo Martinez tied it with a two-run HR.
Incredibly, that was all the scoring until the top of the 22nd, when the Jays’ Manny Lee singled home a run.
But with two out in the bottom half, the Padres’ Terry Kennedy smashed a solo shot to tie the game again.
And we played on. By this time, we were down to only ‘D’ pitchers on both sides.
Bottom of the 25th… Mike Timlin (D-X) on the mound for Toronto. And with one out, Kennedy takes him deep to RF to finally end it.
The game featured (only) 28 hits, 36 LOB and no errors. Kelly Gruber went 1-for-11. Tony Gwynn struck out four times.
It was a solitaire game, no DH’s, making use of Optional Pitching and Advanced Fielding, and using 3D dice rolls.
Guaranteed I will never forget this one. Sometime during the game, my clothes went out of style. 😉🤣👍🏼⚾️🎲
