    Hi Everyone,

    Work in the mines continues.

Today we have introduced the following:

    Features

    • APBA Baseball Basic Advanced Fielding Rule implemented as an optional ruleset during game creation

    Bug Fixes

    • Forfeit games can be added to Collections
    • 2023 LA team is now in the correct league
    • Foul balls will now give strikes in appropriate situations
    • MM games with Clarence and Sidney will start faster
    • The on-deck batter will appear on the game screen for first batters
    • First plays will be correctly recorded in all situations

Enjoy, and please let support know if issues are encountered with the Advanced Fielding rule.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

Rolling my first game with it… and it came into play right away!
Top of the second inning, a SS(7) made a key error that he would NOT have made before, as his overall team is a Fielding One.
This is a game-changer for the strategic realism of GO. Late-game defensive substitutions are now a factor. Great job again, Jeremy and crew!

Can someone give me the Advanced Fielding Rules for Dummies version, please.

0k so the 3 fielding grades are lined up with play results for each position. example an OF1 is fielding 3. OF3 is fielding 1 etc. On play results specific to OF (30,31,32,15,16,17) the corresponding fielding will be used not the overall fielding. ON infield numbers like 27 (3b) and 28 (ss) the individual players fielding rating will be used. Then some numbers like 25, 29 will use the “infield” rating". Bottom line is the play results will be tied to the players grade at each position. So subbing in def players can make a huge difference. Infield numbers are all players other then OF under 30 is F3 and 35 above F1. Decent realism and APBA Go players who know how to work this system will have slight advantage imo

@TSBL got it. Cool, thanks. Yes, I do remember looking at the different charts.

Awesome. Pitcher fatigue should be the next mountain to climb. I worked out my own charts which have a fairly realistic play feel. Based on the pitcher’s historic innings pitched in a typical game, number of batters faced and runs allowed in the game being played.

Thanks for all you do !

Just had another perfect example where the Advanced Fielding option accurately came into play. With the '69 Twins clinging to a one-run lead after eight innings, I replaced 3B Harmon Killebrew (3) with light-hitting Frank Quilici (4) for the ninth. Quilici then made a big defensive play that Killebrew would not have made had he stayed in the game. Twins win by a run. I love the added strategy now at play here. Just like in real-life games.

trying out APBAGo and season replays, seems pretty cool. However, I had a hitter get a PRN 16 with bases empty and the CF was a 2. The APBAGo result was single + E8. I do have advanced fielding on, but with a fielding two OFer that should just be a single. Am I missing something?

@Fouts Totally agree. With a CF(2), that should be a Single only, with advanced fielding on. I will try to recreate that exact scenario sometime soon and see if I get the same result as you.

@Fouts I think you must simply have had a glitch. I just set up a similar scenario to see what would happen. Bases empty with an OF(2) playing Center Field (Bell). And leadoff hitter Dave Philley’s PRN of 16 resulted in only a single. No error.

@APBA-GO-Jeremy I need to add a forfeited game to my collections. I don’t even see how to forfeit a game. Please advise…

@striker2550 In APBA GO, a forfeit occurs in a game between two managers, when one of the managers abandons the game during play and triggers the forfeit timer. If the timer expires, the game is forfeit and labeled as such in Game History.

Does the game you’re trying to add fit this description?

    Thanks,
    Jeremy
