    Does it automatically do the trades at the appropriate date?

    @MARunyon Anything listed as an historical trade will automatically happen… Unless you supersede it with a custom trade.

    @APBA-GO-Jeremy, any plans on having historical trades work in solitaire or micro-manager challenges? Or does it work now, if you pick a historical date lineup in the other modes?

    @striker2550 The theory is the historical lineups should have the roster from the day the game was played.

    For MM and Solitaire games, there is no larger context so it should be accurate to the day…

    … Except for the whole APBA Carding thing.

    For example, depending on the year and APBA carding coverage, a player on the historical lineup might not have an APBA card and is therefore substituted algorithmically.

    At that point, getting things ‘accurate’ is a real challenge.

    I feel like the fix is pushing us to custom cards functionality of some kind, but tbh, I don’t know if it will be financially viable to do that work (it’s a lot, in context, vs. how many people care).

    Hope I understood your question.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

    @APBA-GO-Jeremy Thanks. But, let’s make sure I understand.

    I’m setting up a game using 1929 NYY. The starting lineup includes Gene ROBERTSON who is APBAGO carded for 1929 Boston. When I create the game using the historical lineup for that day, it should automatically put him in the Yankees lineup. Correct?

    Well… it does not. Maybe I don’t understand…

    @striker2550 Talking to the devs and they say there’s no record of a trade for that player in the system. It either isn’t included in the Retrosheet data or there was an error during data generation. Still investigating.

    You should be able to trade him from Boston to the Yankees for that first game though, if you want to brute force it.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

    @APBA-GO-Jeremy

    I’m playing “Challenge a Micro-Manager” mode. I see no “trade” options. Am I missing something?

    Also, the same issue for Allen CRAIG of the 2014 STL.

    Screenshot of ROBERTSON trade on Baseball Reference included just for fun…

    @striker2550 Apologies, I thought you were using Replays. Trade functionality is associated with Replays.

    In games outside a Replay you’re stuck with the APBA carding convention… In your original example, Robertson won’t be on the Yankees because APBA never carded him for the Yankees.

    You could make a Custom Team based on the Yankees, and add Robertson to the team to get around the APBA carding.

    Check out Replays and see what you think.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

    @APBA-GO-Jeremy, thanks.

    Replays are useless for me because I made a league with teams from all different years.

    I have already started making custom teams. It’s tedious because I constantly rotate teams out, and into, my league.

    Will picking historical lineups ever include the correct roster for modes other than replay?

    @striker2550 Maybe. But in order to please everyone we’d have to institute a ‘Historical - Accurate’ lineup and a ‘Historical - APBA’ lineup (or similar).

    Not saying it won’t happen but it’s not on the list at this time.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy
