    Hi,

    I’m referring to the Replay functionality recently introduced to APBA GO.

    Planning to accommodate trades is presenting a few challenges for us.

    We want to build something that will make the users of Replays happy.

    So, I wanted to reach out and ask some questions that will influence the scope of our efforts:

    1. When y’all ask for the ability to do trades, do you mean within the season the replay is for? Or do you also want to bring in players from other seasons with total freedom? For example: “This guy’s card for 1929 is lame, but his 1930 card is awesome. I want to use the 1930 card in my 1929 Replay.”

    2. Would you be content with the actual trades from the season being automatically integrated into the team roster/lineup for each game? Or do you want to be able to make real trades on different dates? Or do you want the freedom to trade any player any time to any team within the season?

    3. Is the primary reason for wanting to control trades to circumvent APBA’s policy of carding a player for the last team they play for in a season?

    Any feedback to get a sense of what you’re looking for in an ideal situation would be very helpful.

    Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond!

    Jeremy

    I would just like the rosters to reflect who was/wasn’t on the roster (with correct lineups) at that particular date in the season. That way, I don’t have to make custom teams and keep track of when Pickles Dillhoeffer was traded to the Houston Hoagies… :)

    This would be an incredible addition to Replays. There are files that have all of this information and is used in the ATMgr program for BBW. I believe the files are nothing special. Someone else here might be able to speak more on the files. The work is already done, Go would just need a way to utilize the files.

    @striker2550 So as far as I know, there are two reasons the current rosters would not be historically accurate:

    1. A player that was supposed to be on a team for a game is later traded to another team. APBA cards for the final team, so there is no card for the player on the first team.

    2. A player that was supposed to be on a team for a game isn’t because APBA never carded the player.

    Have you noticed situations where a player is missing but wouldn’t be due to these two reasons?

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

    @APBA-GO-Jeremy,
    Those two scenarios are the only ones I can think of.

    Scenario 1) Even though that player only has one card, I’d be very happy to have that card/player playing on the correct team on the correct dates. (From memory, doesn’t the card for a traded player include his combined stats for the entire year on both teams? )

    Scenario 2) This is very infrequent. I can live with that, as I see no easy solution.

    @striker2550

    re. 1) we can definitely pursue a solution that puts the player on the team they originally played for. If the fix is ‘just’ this, then our path is relatively clear.

    1. Other than holding out for APBA to create R versions for all the obscure years, fixing this issue is deep, expensive hole.

    So yeah, if the issue and fix is just 1), we can probably make it work.

    Perhaps we’ll start with that and see what people think.

    Thanks for your input,

    Jeremy

    @APBA-GO-Jeremy

    re scenario 1) Just to clarify: Not only starting with the correct team, but automatically leaving his original team’s roster and joining the new team’s roster. On the correct dates.

    re scenario 2) “R” versions of every season would be adequate. Right after that, please discover a solution to world hunger. Next Tuesday would be good…

    I would like in season trades that actually occurred to be added but also have the ability to make trades myself from that same season only (players from teams in that replay season) like the 1972 one I’m currently in the process of playing. Thank you!

    Just started the 1975 season and the California Angels have people on their active roster that were still in the minors at the beginning of the season, i.e. Bob Allietta-C. Also there are a number of players that eventually came up during the season but I can’t find them anywhere. WHERE ARE THEY? For the whole season we are talking many players.

    LAST QUESTION. I’d like to print a ONE PAGE boxscore at the end of the game. Right now I have to print separate sheets, one for the Visitor and another for the Home team. PLEASE MAKE IT A ONE PAGE PRINTOUT!

    Thanks.

    Newspaper style boxscore would be great like the old days.
