Release 2.7.1
-
Welcome to Release 2.7.1
Today we released two linked features to APBA GO.
The first is Historical Lineups, and the second is Replays.
Historical Lineups
Historical lineups are accessible to subscribers or to anyone who purchases the Replay Unlock.
They use data provided by retrosheet.org to pre-populate a pitcher and lineup for any available game in baseball history.
Historical lineups are accessible during lineup creation, by selecting one in the dropdown in the lineup selection modal.
For instances where an APBA card for a given player does not exist, a substitute player is algorithmically selected to take their place.
Replays
Replays is a new way to play APBA GO Baseball.
Select a year and all teams, or a year and one team, and play through the entire schedule of games.
A Replay Collection is automatically created for each Replay, and completed Replay games are automatically added to it.
Each game can be completed in a variety of ways: via Autoplay, Solitaire or by playing a MicroManager.
An autoplay range selector exists (currently limited to one day’s worth of games until the performance of the production environment is analyzed), which will automatically play through all games in the selected timeframe.
When selecting an autoplay range, managers can create an up to five lineup rotation comprised of pre-existing lineups, or let the games run using the historical lineups by default.
Game summary information for completed games, such as Boxscores and Play by Plays, are available on the schedule pages.
Any game can be deleted and replayed, should the manager feel it necessary.
Replays are available to subscribers, or by purchasing the Replay Unlock in the store.
Enjoy this historical addition to APBA GO!
Immediate Roadmap
After addressing any bugs with Replays and Historic Lineups discovered by the community, the development team will be moving on to complete Sydney, the 1970s MicroManager.
Then, it will work on additional functionality for Replays, including allowing the use of Custom Teams to allow users to manually adjust rosters to compensate for uncarded players, or players traded during the season. And as always, performance improvements to Autoplay (including Replay Autoplay), games.
Barring any interruptions, the team will then focus on implementing Master Game functionality, an effort that will take us well into the New Year.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Thanks for the update, Jeremy.
Love the idea of introducing Master Game functions down the road. If I can suggest another, I’d love to see individual fielding ratings factor into F1, F2 or F3 results. (Like the advanced fielding options on the basic board game.)
Would definitely add to the realism when considering late-game defensive substitutions. -
@RandySteinman Shouldn’t be too hard (and by that I mean, slightly less hard than the Master Game stuff) to get it done.
Thanks,
Jeremy -
Jeremy…you may already have feedback on this issue, but…did 2 days in a replay for 1905, and when I checked the standings, there were AL teams in the NL standings. Let me know if you need/want more info. Otherwise it worked outstanding…DJ

@djsav-yahoo-com Thank you, we’ll check it out.

To make sure I understand this correctly, if I want to do a season replay using historical lineups I need to buy both the season for $20 and Replay Unlock for another $20, correct?

Hello! On the subject of standings, are the AL and NL options supposed to work for custom leagues in Collections? When I click on AL and NL, I get nothing listed at all. Perhaps I am not doing something correctly? I know when creating a custom team, one should choose AL or NL, so I feel that the league is at least set up correctly. Thanks for your time.

@mariner-0 No, at least not in the 2 games I have played against the A.I. managers…

@APBA-GO-Jeremy
Thank you! -
An update on Custom Team league designations…
If you have a Custom Team that was created before release 2.7.0, you will have to edit the team in the Custom Teams interface, manually designate it for AL or NL, and save the team.
This is something we could not automate because only you know what custom teams you want assigned where.
Once you go through the process, the Collections filter should work correctly.
Thanks,
Jeremy -
Jeremy…auto played first day in 1905 season & the box scores all had a DH batting 9th. I looked at the lineups before auto playing, and none has a DH, which was expected. What needs to be done to
not have a DH…Thanks -
@APBA-GO-Jeremy Thank you for the update! Cheers
