New to Go version - how does this compare to 1960's APBA card game?
-
As a young baseball fan I played APBA Baseball with the card version in the mid 60s. It was great fun at that time. My game and card sets were left behind years ago. I’m wondering now how others with similar experience find this APBA Go version of the game. Trying to access how it would appeal to me as well as my friends who never played the card game, which looking back took quite a bit of attention to detail, that not everyone enjoyed. I loved it.

Very similar to you, I played as a kid in the 60/70s and loved it. About 3-4 years ago, when I had more time after retirement, I googled it to see if it still existed and found that in could be played online.
This fits me PERFECTLY because I very much want access to every team from every year. Yes it’s a monthly fee but well worth it for me.(You can buy seasons or teams without a monthly fee).
And a whole lot cheaper than trying to by all the seasons/teams that I want.APBAGO does have some, uh quirks, it is not perfect. But it is very good for the need it fills for me.
Good luck and welcome to the forum.

I’m 76 years old and began playing the 1964 season with cards in 1965. I played 120 games by 1968, keeping every single batting, pitching and fielding stats. I kept all those stats and wanted to continue playing after I retired at age 68. In 2017 I discovered APBA GO and continued playing right where I left off in 1968. I use the actual starting lineups and pitchers for every game. Comparing the actual stats with the ABPA GO stats every couple of weeks, it’s amazing how realistic this is!!! The only complaint I have is the inability to edit collections so I can include my stats from the 120 games back in '65 thru '68 with my 796 games I’ve played on APBA GO since 2017. Oh well, love the game and the realism!!!

@apbasince64 Are you playing solitaire? Autoplay?

I STRICTLY PLAY SOLITAIRE GAMES.
-
I play every single game Autoplay
-
Is “autoplay” like an instant simulation of the game?

You can create a new collection and add all of those games to it. I keep some collections by season and others where I consolidate seasons.

@falcon4fever pretty much yes. AI managers will play the game in about 5 seconds.
