no post season replay lineups?

The All Star Break has arrived. Here are the standings; note: A few teams have played a couple of more games than others because coordinating schedules wasn’t easy. :)

**East Division**

Obviously, the Central/West Division race is more compelling because the '05 Giants are just ridiculous. They have a team batting average of .309. .309!! Their 521 runs scored are over 100 more than the Big Red Machine of 1976 (394). Either their cards are flawed compared to their actual stats, or they are getting the best run of random computer dice rolls ever. Dan McGann, the current favorite for MVP hit .299 in 1905 with 5 homeruns, 14 triples, 23 doubles, 75 RBI, and a .825 OPS. McGann after 78 games? .375, 10 homeruns, 11 triples, 18 doubles, 97 RBI, 1.033 OPS. Oh and 20 stolen bases too. Good grief. Here are the other All-Stars:

2B: Joe Morgan: .281, 16 HR, 62 RBI, 76 runs scored, 41 steals, 1.000 OPS.

3B: Mike Schmidt: .240, 21 HR, 62 RBI, .891 OPS

SS: Bill Dahlen: .277, 45 RBI, 45 runs scored, 24 SBs

OF: Mike Donlin: .436, 70 RBI, 67 runs scored, 19 stolen bases, 1.046 OPS.

OF: George Foster: .299, 14 HRs, 66 RBI, 46 runs scored, 18 stolen bases.

OF: Henry Aaron: .286, 24 HRs, 61 RBI, 51 RBI, .909 OPS

@TSBL It’s a great little house rule. Easy to do. Makes for a strategic decision. The home manager can only re-roll his own dice roll, though. (Otherwise he could simply negate a three-run homer by the visiting team.) Not sure the rule does enough to swing the home team to a 54% advantage on a game like APBA, but it sure can’t hurt.

I’m assuming that’s a typo, given that my original Mike Young card (©1985) has a 35 on 65.
Young grounded into only 5 DP’s in 470 PA’s in '84. So it definitely seems like a typo.

I like it. Keep us posted. I know what you’re saying about three playoff teams vs two. But I think you’ll appreciate how many more games will still be relevant late in your season. And a short 2vs3 playoff will be fun as well…

No autoplay. Roll all the games myself. Solitaire, but I manage both teams to make the best moves to win. Keep all the stats in Collections, one folder for the AL and one for the NL.
This has been great. Of the 448 regular season games, only three (the last three of a final series between the Reds and Cubs) had nothing on the line. It took me eleven months, playing (on average) four games every three days. There’s really nothing I would do any different. Very enjoyable.
For 12 teams, I’m thinking a 32-game season might be a good length. (4 games vs each division opponent = 20 games. 2 games vs each non-division opponent = 12 games. That makes for a nice, balanced tournament.). I would definitely recommend having two or three teams make the playoffs in each division though. That helps keep things more exciting right to the end.
With a post-season, that would be approx 215 games max… which is a nice length. I suppose a lot depends on how often you get to play. I knock off most games in about 30 minutes, so it’s pretty easy for me to squeeze in a game a day.

(Edited to add:) Another cool option is just have a short double- or triple-elimination tournament. Those are always quick and fun. And every game is important. A triple-elim tourney for 12 teams would last approx 35 games…
