APBA Baseball 5.75
-
I am new to APBA as I first played the board game last Tuesday and purchased the online computer game (APBA Go) last Friday.
I looked at buying the windows game, but after reading about the new online game - I went with the online game instead. The online game right now is just basic, but it does include card images on the screen, there is an option to manually roll the dice and there are several modes in which to play (ie. against the computer manager, solitaire, against a live opponent).
There is no cost to sign up for the online game and it also gives you a chance to try the game out with 2 free teams when you sign up. I am very impressed with the online game and have already purchased 2 complete seasons to play with.

I am interested in this as well as I am considering purchasing 5.75 also.

@dbacknate Yes, this is a case that does work well. If you want to play one team through a season with very good mangers for the other teams, BBW is a far better choice.
There are thinks I like about APBA GO better though. In BBW you kind of are limited to playing each day of the schedule. You can’t say… play a series with two teams, and then another series with two teams. The other games in the schedule have to keep up because of advanced injury management. So you play one game, and them let the computer play all the other games if you want for the same day.
You can see cards in both games, but APBA GO displays all the hitters without having to look at them. And it shows the dice rolls, with BBW doesn’t. BBW is a master game-like version also, not the basic version. There are some positives to that… but it is hard to tell what to do with base advancement as you don’t have the numbers to use for cues.
BBW is a great value I think, you get three seasons out of the box. BBW win is also the only option for draft league right now, and the Micromanagers are far far far better than what is available in APBA GO. If APBA GO does have leagues and custom roster supports, I still imagine games that are not played with both managers online, will be played with instructions like in most non-face-to-face leagues currently. So BBW will have an advantage if you are interested in leagues, except if you are trying to play online, then APBA GO has the advantage.
I have high hopes APBA GO can get league play right. 95%+ of the games I have played in the last 5 years with cards and dice and BBW have been league games. Not much time for anything else. Think for a moment, how cool it would be for a group of APBA GO managers to work on a replay of a season where a different manager plays each team. A community replay so to speak. You could do it now with a someone doing a lot of coordination and compilation of stats, but maybe the league features in the future will allow for that.

@bstark apbago as it is now “works” for league replay. It could be much better (I believe it will be). We are replaying (finishing) the 1994 strike shortened season. We use google sheet to compile the stats and track rosters limits and rotation of starters. Our biggest challenge was finding enough players to play the not so good teams. So I ended up playing those.
We have about 25 of 700 game so left and hope to be in playoffs by next weekend or so.
Btw in our replay Gwynn wound up at .411 for the 162 games season and Both Bagwell and Williams broke the home run record of 61.
We plan on doing more in the future. Keep an eye outAndy
