70's manager

Guys:
Played just a handful of games vs. the Micromanager for the 70’s. In one game the 11975 RR Reds starting pitcher went only 2 innings. McEnaney, a reliever, came in and pitched the next 7 innings of relief. NOT GOOD.
Also many 1975 RR starters were relieved after 2 and before 3 innings. TOO QUICK OF A HOOK.
Not sure why this is happening.

100% agreed. Many times it happens in the 2nd inning, seemingly for no reason.
I’ve brought this up several times. It went nowhere… :(

@BigDog1953 Is the starting pitcher being pinch-hit for in a situation with two or three runners on base? I would think the reliever would be pinch-hit for throughout the remainder of the game. - Steve

It happens seemingly for no reason. Bottom of 1st or 2nd inning, no PH for the pitcher. Top of 2nd or 3rd inning, immediate relief pitcher who then pitches the next 5 innings…

Here is an example with MM Anthony.
The starting pitcher (Waddell) was replaced after only 2 innings pitched.
He had only faced 9 batters. His rest/BF number is 33.
He had given up 0 Earned runs, 3 Unearned runs, and 2 hits.Starting pitcher rated Ak, pulled for a reliever rated Dy.
This has to be unintended behavior(?). Otherwise, I just don’t understand…or we need better descriptions of the MMs…

@striker2550 Anthony is intended to be used with teams from the 1995-2005 era. If he is used with a team without relievers, his behavior will be very unpredictable. All of the Micromanagers are intended for use in a specific era; otherwise, their behavior becomes unpredictable. For cross-era games, Malcolm or Pedro might be the better choice for micromanager. - Steve

But, I’m still a bit befuddled.
First let’s discuss “relievers”.
I assume you mean only pitchers that are in the relievers section when we choose lineups?
If so, I have issues with this, as many of the pitchers in the “starters” box also have relief appearances…
But I can live with that. (shrugs)As it applies to the above example, the pitcher put in for the starter was a reliever. So I guess that worked ok.
I think my remaining question is, why did the starter get yanked so quickly??? Because there was only 1 official “reliever” in the bullpen (with 4 other “starters”), and the MM just goes nuts because it doesn’t fit his role?
Actually I can kinda live with that…I was just hoping for the MM to treat all remaining available pitchers as relievers.

P.S. I wish we could earn manager points for solitaire games…then I could avoid the MMs.

Basically, the Micromanager isn’t playing APBA-ball, where he cares about the starter allowing earned runs vs unearned runs. The Micromanagers look at a pitcher allowing runs as not being effective.
As for the manager points, that is above my control. - Steve
