Is Pitcher Fatigue for Relievers Something New? (because I like it)
-
Perhaps this was announced in a Patch Note, and I simply missed it. But, if this is a new wrinkle, I’m all for it.
Bob Chipman (LHP - C*) came on in relief for the 1952 Braves today. Like most relievers, Chipman has been issued an ‘8’ for his Batters Faced/Pitcher Fatigue rating. But, until now, I have never seen a reliever get downgraded when approaching his Batters Faced number.
Today, the sixth batter to face Chipman (the Cubs’ Bill Serena) belted a two-run HR. And Chipman was immediately downgraded from a C to a D.
Not sure if this a fluke - or a glitch - but I have no absolutely no problem with it.
