About to purchase APBA GO- Couple of questions
-
About to pull the trigger on APBA Go. John Herson is joining us tomorrow for our “Boxscores from the Basement” YOUTUBE LIVE STREAM at 8pm est and then we plan to play some APBA GO online head to head. Wondering how easy it is to connect for head to head. Also, which tools do you recommend I include in my purchase. Some of it is a little confusing. Thanks in advance! www.youtube.com/@basementboxscores

@Mindblanker Hi!
You don’t have to purchase anything to try out APBA GO. The 2025 World Series finalists are available to use for free.
Once you create an account, click the green play button and then Challenge Player. Look for John in the dropdown, select teams, rules etc. and have at it.
To get access to everything (all features and full catalog, the other easy path), purchase a subscription for one month (subscribe and immediately unsubscribe after payment). Or stay subscribed and join a league!
Thanks,
Jeremy -
It is free to try with the 2025 World Series teams. I recommend the subscription for a month. If you like it then continue, if not, then cancel in four weeks. Be sure to set a calendar alarm so you don’t forget.

Hi Jeremy,
I’m more than happy to try it for a month to see if it’s something I’ll play with regularly. For tomorrow’s game, John isn’t playing. We’re talking with him before we get started. Can you talk me through how head to head online works? Is it still just create an account, sign into the account and then you’ll be immediately listed in the “lobby”?

Also can anyone tell me what the R means for some seasons?

R - Recalculated seasons - Steve
To Challenge a player, select PLAY BALL on the main screen. Then, CHALLENGE PLAYER. If you had a prior arrangement to play a specific player at say, 9pm, then select that player from the dropdown menu. For example, you may have an arrangement to play mkehrer, so select his name and then the agreed parameters for the game. You select your team, then Basic or Master Game and the General rules you want to use, then Basic or Master rules. Depending on your familiarity with APBA Baseball, pick the rules with which you are most comfortable. I don’t suggest Manual Dice Roll or Step Play and probably not Custom Teams. If you have any questions, I may be available online tomorrow to answer any further questions. - Steve

@Mindblanker Yes, that’s pretty much it.
There is functionality to mark yourself ‘unavailable’ for play, for those who want to do Solitaire or Replays, etc. and that’s controlled through the profile menu in the top right of the screen.
You are available by default, so unless you want to change it, you’ll be good to go.
Thanks,
Jeremy
