Optional Pitching Rule and Step play

Sorry for the basic questions but cannot find it elsewhere…for game set up what does the optional pitching rule and step play option mean? Thanks

@backstreets Optional pitching is the pitcher advancement and grade reduction rules from the basic game.

Step play is sort of like an extra click before you go to the next at bat so you can see the result longer.
