Can't Access Custom Team

After a break of two months, my friend and I tried to resume our series of games with our custom teams. After selecting his logon for a Challenge, I was not able to select my custom team and complete the Challenge set-up screen.

Is there a new process or limits put on playing online challenges with custom teams?

Make sure you’ve selected Custom Teams: On during game configuration.
