Playability
-
My friend and I play a repeating series of 13 games with 4 B starters, games 7 and 8 as double headers and game 13 being a fifth starter ©, without the DH. We have drafted similar 2nd tier custom teams. We have adopted the following constantly evolving pitcher use restrictions to increase the complexity of the decisions to be made. Has anyone else done the same? Our only hitter use restrictions are on double headers where we bring in a defensive alignment in the second game replacing 2 starting hitters. Not sure if there are any other hitter use restrictions that would increase the playability/complexity. These are the rules:
Starters
All starters can only pitch 10 innings
C starter must be available to start every 9th game and then rest for 3 days
A-rated closer
0 to1/3 inning 0 days rest up to 3 games in a row, then1 day rest
2/3 to 1 1/3 innings 1 day rest
1 2/3 to 2 innings 2 days rest
Max. in any game: 2 inningsB rated relievers
0 to 1/3 inning 0 days rest up to 2 games in a row, then 1 day rest
2/3 to 1 inning 1 day rest
1 1/3 to 2 innings 2 days rest
2 1/3 to 3 innings 3 days rest
Max. in any game: 3 inningsC rated long relievers
0 to 2 innings 0 day rest up to 2 games in a row, then 1 day rest
2 1/3 to 4 innings 1 day rest
4 1/3 to 7 innings 2 days rest
maximum 7 inningsDouble Headers
Regulars: Sit 2 regulars in the second game who can pinch hit at any time but not pinch run or take the field. Batting average and defence of two substitutes should approximate that of the two benched regulars.
Relief pitcher entering a double header on a day of rest is not available for both ends of the double header, but both ends count only as one day of rest.
Relief pitcher can’t exceed his daily maximum over both ends of the double header combined.
Relief pitcher is not available for the second game if he pitched 1 innings or more (A), 2 innings or more (B) or 3 innings or more © in the first game.
Relief pitcher’s future days of rest are based on total innings pitched in both ends of the double header combined.
Relief pitcher who pitches in both ends of a double header has a minimum 1 day rest.
