Pitching stats and pinch hitters
-
Whenever you pinch hit for a pitcher, that player enters the box score as a pitcher, I guess because there is no “pinch hitter” position. Usually that’s not a big deal because if the pinch hitter doesn’t actually pitch he doesn’t enter the pitching section of the box score at the end of the game. But here’s what just happened: I used a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth inning and my team walked off with a win. But in the box score, the pitching win was awarded to my pinch hitter because he was the pitcher of record, per APBAGO. In reality, the pitcher who was replaced by the pinch hitter should have been given the win. This could be solved by creating the “pinch hitter” position in the game.
