What does the Optional Pitching rule mean?
-
@stevenwc I’ll quote @jkoppe from another thread: “If a pitcher gives up 5 ER in a three inning span, he will be reduced by one grade (e.g. A to B). Conversely, if he goes several innings without giving up a run he will advance a grade. For example, if a C pitcher pitches six shutout innings he will advance to a B; one more and he advances to an A.”
-
Jeremy…so I did a solitaire game but did not see this as an option…i tired ctrl-click but nothing
-
@backstreets Are you using a desktop? The option is the bottom right rule setting, where you would normally set step play, dh, etc.
-
@apba-go-jeremy …got it…using laptop windows 10…the verbage of 3d dice option is scrambled on top of the optional pitching verbage so hard to see…but i saw it and got it to work…this is SPECTACULAR…brings you closer to the C& D experience waiting for a 66!..and wants me to get playing more…now one thing I do not understand from your comment…why would this be anymore acurate than a random number generator?..I really do think this is a dramatic improvement in the playing experience
-
@backstreets Not more accurate, but the results are generated differently. For the 3D dice, the result is determined by how the dice fall, like in real life. The random number generator uses an algorithm to select a number between 1 and 6. Both are random, but come to the result following different paths.
-
@apba-go-jeremy got it…ok question…love the visual of the dice…but I cannot get the game script to show…is it one or the other?
-
As we are trying 2.0.9 again, thanks for all who take the time to let support know whatever difficulties you may be experiencing.
As GO is a Web application, it suffers many of the pitfalls that all Web sites do, as some pages and settings are cached (downloaded and saved to speed up browsing) locally.
In most instances where you encounter difficulties, the following steps should be tried to ensure you have the latest files:
-
Hard refresh both the lobby page and the game page. This will force your computer to download the latest files.
-
Log out, close all pages, log in - This can sometimes solve problems with Oauth and the forums.
-
Clear cache and cookies for baseball.apbago.com - Sometimes works where a hard refresh won’t
-
Try the site with a different browser - this will help identify the original browser (and its settings, cache, etc.) as the culprit.
Most of the time everything will go smoothly and you won’t need to try the above steps. But if it doesn’t, now you know!
(And then write support to let us know what’s up).
Thanks,
Support -
-
@backstreets Hi! I totally missed your question. It could be that the height of the viewport is pushing the player card up and over the script output, obscuring it. If you can make your browser window taller, it might work. Apologies for the late reply.
-
2.0.9 works for me this time around. Thank you.
-
@darnamell I had this issue. Logged out, logged in, refreshed, cleaned cache and all was good.
Fantastic addition, thank you devs!
-
@dbacknate Solitaire and MM games only at this point.
-
@apba-go-jeremy … I found another bug tonight (May 30). Runners on second and third, 22 - 6 for a double, one scores the other is thrown out at home plate but the first runner is not recorded as scoring.
-
Today, June 8, I played a game and the computer gave the win to the pinch-hitter and not the pitcher. My team trailed and pinch-hit, rallied to take the lead during the at-bat. Winning pitcher should have been the starter, certainly not the pinch-hitter for him.

@apba-go-jeremy
If the pitcher gets the upgrade, will it show on the pitcher’s rating line on his icon (on the mound)? Or, anywhere on the roster page?
