Into my second game and I am getting the hockey game down. It seems that you simply have to memorize the results… and own a previous edition rule book to fill in the blanks. At one point, in a moment of frustration, I almost gave up but by the second game I am freely rolling dice and a nice hockey feel has set in. A few things I have learned…

It helps to print out an additional time clock and penalty box clock. I use additional chips from other games and the old edition to mark penalties and also fatigue. I also use a chip to mark who made the last pass on offense for assist purposes. This has really helped game play.

Rule of thumb, if a puck carrier tries to pass OR has the puck stolen by an empty position due to penalty per the 1990s edition roll again for puck carrier. If a rebound goes to an empty spot the goalie covers it for a defensive zone face off. If a face-off goes to an empty spot roll again.

For 3 on 3 I am playing everyone forcheck 3 and a +10 to their shooting rating. This mimics the 2 man adv. Because I am playing such old Original Six seasons (and before) I don’t have to worry about overtimes like this.
